Definitions
- B is the outside of the pad. It is constructed with a plate of brass or other suitable metal in it the whole size of the pad. Said plate of metal is snfciently stili,'so .that by bending or straightening it you can regulate the amount of pressure on that end ot the pad which rests upon-thc rupture. All the pressure of the spring, over and above what is actually needed on the rupture, is made to bear on the small end of the pad, and thus add to the comfort of the wearer. (l is the spring, which is constructed and connected to the large end of the pad in the usual way. D is a staple, which connects the spring to the small end of the pad.
- Said spring passes through the said staple, which is suiiiciently large to allow the pad to adjust itself to the body in all positions in which it may be needful for a person to pnt himself while walking or working, and atthe same time keep the pad on the rupture.

Improvement in Trusses.
N0. 130,791, Patented Aug. 27, |872.
WM-Jew Mania/f TNITED STATES CHESTER H. GARR, `OF HARTWICK, NEW YORK.
IMPROVEMENT IN TRUSSES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 130,791, dated August 27, 1872.
Specification describing an Improved Self- AdjustingRupture-Pad, invented by CHESTER H. CARR, of the town of Hartwick, in the county of Otsego and State of New York.
i, eral use. B is the outside of the pad. Said spring passes through the said staple, which is suiiiciently large to allow the pad to adjust itself to the body in all positions in which it may be needful for a person to pnt himself while walking or working, and atthe same time keep the pad on the rupture.
What I claim as my invention, and des-ire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination of double-cushioned padball and socket-joint, laterally-adjusted clipV and staple, all arranged as described and set forth, for the purpose specified.
