TOOL-HOLDER.

To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, MAX MOVSI-IOVITOH, a citizen of the United States, residing at 111 Avenue B, county of New York and city of New York, State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Tool-Holders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to holders for buffing wheels, polishing wheels, scratch brushes, emery wheels, or similar implements and has for one of its objects the construction of new, useful and eflicient means for holding securely such wheels, implements, and similar tools. 4
Another obj ect of said invention is to pro vide means for speedy attachment or detachment of polishing wheels or similar revolving implements to or from a lathe. Still another object of this invention is the provision of a holder the outer end of which shall not protrude beyond the sides of polishing disk or similar object. These and other objects of my invention are set forth in the following specification, and shown in the accompanying drawings, the particular features of novelty, combination, construction, and arrangement of parts which constitute my invention being pointed out in the appended claims.
One of the many possible embodiments of the invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:Figure 1 is a perspective view of the holder and a sectional view of the wheel. Fig. 2 is a front View of the wheel. Fig. 3 is a section on line 33 of Fig. 1. Fig. 4 is a side elevation of the disk attached to a brush and mounted over the pin. Fig. 5 is a perspective view of the holder and a sectional view of the brush.
The holder 1 is bored atits inner end 2 to engage the spindle of a motion imparting lathe.
The outer end 3 of said holder is provided with an integrally formed shoulder or flange 4 against which the polishing wheel 5 may abut and thus be kept running true.

passes a securely held pin 6, the ends of which are adapted to register with the slots 7 of the disks 8 which are attached by rivets 9, or any means suitable, to the sides of the wheel 5 and brush 10.
The sides of the wheel 5 are depressed at 11 to provide a space for the ends of the pin 6, so that after the said ends have entered the slots 7 the wheel 5 may be given a part of a turn, thereby engaging, by the rivets 9, the ends of the pin 6, and also causing the said ends to bear against the inner side of the disk 8.
Thus the motion imparted to the holder would be transmitted to the wheel by means of the pin 6 which at the same time will hold the wheel in position and prevent same from coming ofi the holder.
The outer end 3 of the holder is of a length corresponding to the thickness of the wheel employed thus enabling the use of the outer surface of the wheel through its dian1- eter, an operation which cannot be performed with the use of protruding holders of the old style. I do not confine myself to the precise form or shape of the holder shown in the drawings, as it is obvious that other forms or shapes may be used without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention.
Having described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is In a device for holding rotary tools, a holder, a pin running through the center of and at approximately right angles to the aXis of the said holder, a plate provided with openings arrangedto register with the ends of said pin and having a recessed portion adapted to receive the ends of the pin and to hold the plate in position, and means to secure the plate to a circular tool.
