INVENTOR ATTORN F Y ABRAHAM M. TURKELTAUB, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
..-" COMBINATION -BUTT01\T.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June '10, 1919.
Application filed March 31, 1919. Serial No. 286,464.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ABRAHAM M. TURKEL- TAUB, a citizen of the United States, a resident of the borough of Manhattan, city,
5 county, and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Combination- Button, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
My invention relates to a button formed of two different compositions and locked together to present a single button of different color sections. Up to the present time it has been impossible to form buttons of a composition known as ivory in the trade, 5 of a large size whereas buttons made of composition known as horn in the market, could be easily formed in large sizes.
It is the object of this invention to utilize the composition known as horn to form the larger or outer part of the button which holds in front and preferably in the central part the other portion of the button which is made of the composition known as ivory. In other words in my button the larger sec tion or portion of the button which is made of the composition known as horn forms the bed or seat for the smaller part or section of the button which is made of the composition known as ivory.
In the appended drawing, Figure 1 is an elevation of a button embodying one form of my invention and Fig. 2 is cross section of same on line 22 Fig. 1.
Referring to the drawings, 3 is the blank formed of the composition known as horn of the desired diameter or size. The blank may be flat, concave or convex as the case may be. On its outer face it is provided with a recess 4 which is preferably in the central part of the blank, this recess forming a seat for the other portion of the button 5 which is formed of a composition known as ivory. The bottom portion of the button 5 fits tightly into the recess 4. In addition, the bottom portion of button 5 carries a pair of converging pins 7 embedded therein and adapted to pass through the body of the blank 3, these two pins locking the two portions 5 and 3 together. In addition, if desired, a cement can be introduced between the button 5 and the recess 4:. The ivory composition is preferably provided with the customary openings whereby the button can be secured to a garment.
In view of the fact that the ivory composition is of a diflerent color than the horn composition, the resulting button is of a greater commercial value, and further, the fact that the button is formed so that a portion is made of ivory increases considerably the commercial value of the article.
I claim:
A combination button comprising a blank formed of a composition known as horn, said blank having a recess, the other button portion being of a composition known as ivory fitting tightly into the recess of the blank, and converging pins locking the two sections together.
ABRAHAM M. TURKELTAUB.
