To all whom it mey bmwmm:
Be it known the? L lr nnonmon HEATH, a; citizen of the United States, and a resident of Tacoma, in the county of Pierce and State of Washington, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Hob low Corner-Blocks, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in hollow corner blocks for use in. hollow Well construction, and it consists in the combinations and arrangements herein described and, claimed.
An object of my invention is to form a hollow building block for constructing cor 11ers of walls, jambs of openings, and for building piers, which will give a'greater strength-When bniit in a well then the orciinary corner block new used.
A further object of my invention is to provide a corner block which not only has great strength but when placed in position will make a more sigl itly corner than. other blocks in common use.
Other objects and advantages will appear in the following specification, and the novel features of the invention wilt be particularly pointed out in the appended claims.
My invention iiiustretect in the ecco1npanying drawings forming port of this specification, in whichfi Figure 1 is e perspective view showing o well constructed with corner biocks which form the subject of the present epplic ion, one of saidblccks being shown in so tion, and
Fig. 2 is an enlarged section along the line 2--2 of Fig. 1.
In carrying out my invention I make at corner block having the longitudinal webs,
1, 2, and 3, respectively, the transverse Webs greily with the other Webs. A top end a bottom 8 ere provicieci, as shown in 2.
in joi in a re/e12 the corner blocks, which 11' have designeteci enerei by C, are
nine/sci as shown in 1. it will be no ticed that these block contiguous to the blocks A and ;E, the i j ofgijoining eno: the
' specification of Letters Patent. e neenm filed November 1, 19m. Serial No.
a, diagonal Web t3 formed inte Patented Feb. 1%, rein, 128.918.-
Webs 1, .2, and 3 are in elinement with the Webs of the blocks A, While the blocks abut the sides of the corner blocks C, so that the Webs of the blocks B are in eiinernent ivith the Webs 4 and 5 of the corner blocks As will be noted, each corner block has one closed end which is formed by the Web By constructing a corner block in this mom ner, corners can be made which are just on strong any other part of the Well. These corner blocks, as has been pointed out, will bond in with the ordinary Well tiles or blocks. Instead of having z or course at the corner or angle, there is vci. e which binds the webs of the corner blocks together and makes a very strong construction. This obviates the necessity of having a mortar joint. as where the corner blocks are mitereti, and it also obviates the necessity of "Weaken ing the wall as where the blocks are placeri on end. i v
While I have shown the corner block Q having; two voids, it will be understood that one, two, or more voids may be used Without departing from the invention,
The blocksmay be made of any suite/hie nmterial, such as clay, plaster product, cement, etc., and they may also be of any do sired sizes.
1. A hollow corner-block having; a, horizontal top and a horizontal bottom, 3, pin-- rality of vertically ext ding parallel Webs spaced apart and joinifg the top and the bottom, one of said webs forminge contimr one ,side, another of said websforming a side portion and terminating short of the end of eblock. a second set of vertically extending parallel webs disposed at ri htengles to said first named webs, one ofjfzid second named set of webs constituting an end of the block, and a diagonal vertically Web joining the points ofinterseotion of extending said angularly disposed webs omit the end. of
a side end of tinuo'us side,
portion another of said Webs forming and terminating short of the block, a second set of vertically the extending parallel webs disposed at right angles to said first named [second named set end of the block, a diago Webs, one of San of webs constituting an nal vertically ex- FREDERICK HEATH.
