a novel form of marks and checks which all wkomit may concern:-- x
Leeaaes.
Application filed may 16,
' a citi- Be'it known thatI, EARL E. 1 R
at Sayre,
zen of the'United States, residing in the county of Bradford, State ofPenm sylvania, have invented certain new-and useful Improvements in Marlnng Devicesyand I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will-enable others skilled in. the art to which it appertains to makeand use the same.
This invention relates to marln'n devices and has particular reference to com ination markers and checks for hats and coats,
' The object'ofthe invention'is to provide may be also usedas an advertising medium, and which may be carried around by the owner of the hat or'c'oat for use as occasion demands, .Thus, I have devised a marker which may be-made-from small slips of pasteboard, celluloid, or other flexible sheet material, and has a p culiar slot cut therein to permit the positiomng of the device upon a sweat-band, the hat-band, a pocket edge or a collar. The device may be distributed by dealers, bearing their advertisements, and has a blank space provided within which the user can place his name.
In the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification, v
Figure 1 is a plan view of the device,
Fig. 2 is a'plan view showing the device mounted on 'a hat-band, and a of Fig. 2.
Fig. 3 is a section on line 3-3 of Fig. 2. Fig. .4 is a sectional viewonitheline 4-4,
Referring more particularly to the drawings, 1 represents a card of paste board, celluloid or a similar flexible sheetmaterial x ,Which is capable of being cut or stamped out. Simultaneously with the cutting of the card, or as a subsequent operation, a
slot 2 is cut in the blank whereb a tab 3 is formed. The slot 2 is genera y crescent-shaped, and terminates at its extremities inthe eyes 4. Thereby, the; tab 3 isfree to swing, Within limitations, on the re- Specification of Letters Patent. lPattentagefi], Feb, 118, 1939,
1917. Seria11ro.169,070.
Used as an advertising device, suitable space above the tab. 3 is provided for the ,advertisers wording, whilebelow is left a space within which the user may write his name. If the material used is celluloid, the lower space will be roughened or dulled to permit the legible insertion -of the users name. This device may be cheaply turned out in large numbers as an advertising novelty, or may be distributed by societies, lodges, or communities as souvenirs.
What I claim as my invention is An article of the character described comprising a body made from relatively flexible material, of substantially rectangular shape having an arcuate shaped slot medially therein and wholly within said body and also provided with opposed spaced openings inwardly directed toward each other v EARL E. ALLEN.
