stretched, the parts of the clamp being so arranged that the wire may be readily disconnected therefrom when desired.
Another object iS to provide a clamp having coacting parts between which the wire is received, the gripping action of said parts being increased in proportion to the strain exerted on the wire during the operation of stretching the same.
The above and other objects and advantages of this invention will be in part described and in part understood from the following description of the present preferred embodiment, the same being illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which,
Figure 1 is a side elevationof my improved invention.
Fig. 2 is a sectional View taken on line 2-2 of Fig. 1.
In the drawings wherein is illustrated the preferred embodiment of my invention, the numeral 1 designates a conical bar or body portion which is substantially circular in cross section and has an opening extending transversely through the reduced end 2 thereof. Pivotally mounted in said opening is a ring 3 having a snap hook 4: integrally associated therewith and adapted to be engaged with a chain or other pulling appliance as indicated at 5.
the direction of the ring 3, and the wire to be stretched, as indicated at 7, is laid lengthwise on the member 1. The split ring is then moved toward the larger end of the body portion 1 until the wire is clamped between said ring and body portion in the manner 1.:
shown in Fig. 1. The snap hook 4: is then connected to a chain or the like as indicated at 5 which may be tightened with any suitable form of wire stretcher.
The construction herein shown and described represent the preferred embodiment of my invention but I desire to be understood that I do not limit myself to the same but may resort to such changes in construction and arrangement of the parts as may come within the scope of the invention, without departing from the spirit of the same.
I claim:
A wire grip, including a tapering conical body portion having an opening extending through the smaller end thereof, a ring pivotally secured in said opening, a snap hook carried by said ring and adapted to be coupled with a wire stretcher and a split ring slidably mounted on said body portion.
In testimony whereof I ailix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
