pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawings forming part of this specification,
Figure l is a side View of a nail drawing tool embodying my invention,
F ig, 2 is an edge view of the some,
Fig. 3 is a sectional view through the head of the device Fig. 4 is a transverse secbional View through the shank v looking toward the heed.
In the drawing, 2 represents the shank and handle of she tool. This is preferably oomposed of steel or iron rod of suiteble'riimsnsions, having a hook 3 formed at one enil,
terminating in a claw 4 provided with the usual V-slmped recess to receive the shank of the nail that is to be pulled. The hook 3 is so formed that a very heavy leverage isobtained. on the nail shank and. the tool is thereby adapted for drawing nails of the largest size.
At the opposite end of the shank a. smxlfi is formed on which a head '3 is mounted. This head is preferably curved slightly and provided with a fiat driving face 8 at one end At the other end'sockets 9 are formed to receive pins 10. These pins are preferably of steel and have tapered ends 11 and. are adapted to be driven into she Wood near the l mb-exiled Jane. 28, 1919. V:
head of the nail and crush it sufiieiently to allow the end of the claw to be inserted. and engage the shank: of the nail under the head.
The pins are preferably secured in their sockets by means of a key 12 and in addition damping; screws 13 may also be mountedl in the bead, having their inner ends seated against the shanks of the ins.
This head may be made 0 any suitable size and the manner of mounting it on the shank may be varied and the position of the pins in the head may be changed and still be Within the scope of my invention.
1 claim as my invention:
The Within implement comprising a shank provided with e head one end of which is formed with longitudinally extending socksis, spaced open, pins fitting in she sockets to break wood fiber at different points about a nail-bead preparatory to extracting the nail and e looking key passed transversely through the head across both pins and interlocking with she pins to secure them in position.
In wibness whereof I hove hereunto set my hand this 21st (levy of February, 1916.
