To all whom it may concern:

Beit known that I, Ramona WM. Form, a citizen of the United States, residing at Jackson, county of Jackson, State of Michlgan have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Spring-Cushion Structures, of which the following is a speclfication. o.

This invention relates to improvements in spring cushion structures. 0

The main objects of this invention are:

First, to provide an improved sprmg cushion structure in which the spnngs are effectively supported within the cushion and the covering eflectively secured.

Second, to provide an improved sprlng cushion .structure having these advantages which is neat and attractive in appearance,

simple and economical in its parts and easily and quickly assembled.

Further objects, and objects relating to structural details, will definitely appear from the detailed description to follow.

I accomplish the objects of my invention by the devices and means described in the following specification. The invention is clearly defined and pointed out in the claims.

A structure which is a preferred embodiment of my invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawing, forming a part of this specification, in which:-

In the drawing similar reference characless general use may be employed. The upholstery covering, designated generally by the numeral 3, is provided with a depending sklrt or side portion 4. v

I provide a spring support and cover attaching frame 5 formed of sheet metal and 1n its preferred embodiment formed into a curved cross section, as shown. This frame etails of the spring mount are not shown, as various forms 1n more or member is disposed to face upwardly thereby providing an upwardly projecting outer edge 6 and an inner edge 7. In the preferred embodiment this inner edge has a plurality of slits 8 therein forming a plurality of cover clamping fingers or members 9 and spring mount engaging tongues 10. The lower edge of the cover skirt 4: is disposed within this frame and secured therein by clamping themembers 9 against the covering, as shown in Fig. I. The mount engaging tongues 10 areclamped .over the spring mount border wire 2.

In practice I preferably form this frame as a continuous piece, the ends being telescoped together as at 11,see Fig. II, and retained in their telescoped relation by offsetting alined clamping members 12,see

Figs. II and IV.

In assembling the structure the springs are arranged on their mount and the frame 5 secured thereto. The upholstery covering is then put in position w1th its lower edges arranged within the frame 5 and secured therein by clamping the members 9 thereon.

. This may be done very rapidly b a machine provided for the purpose whic however, forms no part of this invention and is, therefore, not illustrated herein. The edge of the covering is fully protected by the frame 5 and the structure has a finished and attractive appearance. It also is of advantage in that the parts are simple and economical to produce and the cover may be quickly and securely mounted.

In the modification shown in Figs. VI

and VII the inner edge 7 of the frame 5 is ,my invention relates to embody or adapt the same as may be desired.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by-Letters Patent, is:

1. In a spring cushion, the combination of the springs and upholstery covering, of.

a spring support and cover attaching means comprising I spring mount and a metallic frame of curved cross section disposed to face upwardly, the inner ed e of the frame being transversely slit providing a plurality 1 of cover clamping members and spring mount engaging tongues, the ends of the frame having telescoping enga ement and being retained in engagement I y the offsettlng of alined clamping members of the telescoping parts, the edge of the cover being arranged within the frame and secured thereln by elamping said clamping members thereon, said tongues being engaged with said spring mount. y

2. In aspring cushion, the combination of the spring and upholstery covering, of a spring support and cover attaching means comprlsing a metallic frame having upturned edges disposed to face upwardly, the inner edge of the frame being transversely shtproviding a plurality of cover clamping members, the ends of the frame having telescoping engagement and being retained in engagement by the ofi'setting of alined clamping members of the telescoped parts, the edge of the cover being arranged within the frame and secured therein by clamping sa1d clamp1 ng members thereon, and connectlons for said springs to said frame.

In a spring cushion, the combination wlth'the springs and upholstery covering, of a. spring support and cover attaching means comprisin a spring mount, and a metallic frame 0 curved cross section disposed to face upwardly and with the lower edge of the cover arranged therein, the inner edgeof the frame being transversely and the inner edge of said frame,

slit providing a plurality of cover clamping members clamping the cover against the outer edge of said frame, and also providing a plurality of tongues engaged with the spring mount.

4. In a spring cushion, the combination with the springs and upholstery covering, of a spring support and cover attaching means comprising a spring mount and a metallic frame of curved cross section dis- 1 posed to face upwardly and with the lower edge of the cover arranged therein, the inner edge of the frame being clamped against the cover securingit to the outer edge of said frame, said frame being provided with tongues engaged with said spring mount.

5. In a spring cushion, the combination with the springs and upholstery covering, of a spring support and cover attaching means comprising a spring mount and a metallic frame of curvedjcross section disposed .to face upwardly with its edges in overlapped relation, the lower edge of the covering being arranged between the overlapped edges and clamped therebetween, the said frame being provided with tongues engaged with the spring mount.

6. In a spring cushion, the comblnatlon with the springs and upholstery c over, of a spring support and cover attaching means comprising a spring mount and ametalhc frame of curved cross section disposed to face upwardly with its edges in overlapped relation, the lower edge of the covering being arranged and clamped between the overlapped edges of said frame.
