i Be it known thatI, ALFRED SMALLwooD, a. subject of the Kingdomfo Great Britain, residing `at`42 Hargrave Park, Highgate, London, N., in the countyofMiddleseX, England, metallurgist, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in or Relating to Furnaces, of` which the Jfollowing is a specification.
This invention relates to furnaceswofthe" `tion with a jacket flue for heating the contents of the goods chamber.
According to the present invention in such an arrangement, a liue or flues are incorporated, which Hue or flues are in communication on the one hand with the end of the combustion chamber remote from the provision for generating the primary heat, and are on the other hand in communication at intervals along their lengthy with the interior of the hollow floor of the goods chamber, the several means of communication between the said flue or fines and the interior of the hollow i'loor being individually regulable.
The furnace gases from the combustion chamber. can thus be passed directlyor substantiallv directly to various different parts of the Hoor. whereby a greater or lesser heat may be imparted to any part of the floor to thereby etlect an even or an appropriate heating of the goods chamber.
In order that this invention may be clearly understood and readily carried into practice, reference may be had to the appended explanatory sheet ofdrawings, upon which Figure 1 is a side sectional elevation of" a furnace according to the present invention.
