B. STECHBAHT. MOT|0N PICIURE MACH APPLICATION FILED FEB. 5,
I NE.
Patented Dec. 10, 1918.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
BRUNO S TECHBART, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, ASSIGNOR, BY MESNE ASSIGNMENTS, TO AMERICAN PROJECTING COMPANY, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, A CORPORATION OF DELAWARE.
MOTION-PICTURE MACHINE.
Patented Dec. 10, @918.
Original application filed May 7, 1917, Serial, No. 166,865. Divided and this application filed Februay5,
1918. Serial No.215,447.
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, BRUNO STECHBART, a citizen of the United States of America, and a resident of Chicago, in the county of Cook, State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in M0- tion-Picture Machines, of which the following is a specification. I v
This invention relates to the type of portable motion picture machines described in detail in my prior application for Letters Patent, Serial No. 166,865, filed May 7, 1917,
whereof the present application is a division.
The object of the present improvement is to provide a simple and efiicient means for effecting a tilting. adjustment of the machine, as a whole, in a vertical plane in attaining a proper positioning of the p10- tures on the exhibition or view screen, all
I as will hereinafter more fully appear.
In the accompanying drawings Figure 1, is a perspective view of a port-- able motion picture machine of the rectangular box form, and having the present improvement applied.
Fig. 2, is an elevation of the side of the machine opposite to that shown'in Fig. 1. Fig. 3, is an enlarged detailvertical section,= illustrating the adjusting means of the present improvement.
Like reference numeral parts in the several views.
Referring to the drawing, 1 designates a box or casing, preferably of the rectangular indicate like form shown, and adapted to inclose the filmv feeding, filni guiding and film reeling mechanisms of a motion picture machine, and afford support for the usual projection objective 2', lamp house 3 and condenser usually associated with the aforesaid mechanisms. In construction shown the .main portions of the side walls of the casing are hinged to the other portion of the casing to constitute entry doors 4 and 5 to the inclosed mechanisms and parts.
- 6 designates a removable crank or handle for operating the film feeding mechanism, and 7 designates a removable crank or handie for operating the film rewinding mechanism of the machine, as described in detail in myaforesaid application Serial No. 166,865.
S designates a pair of adjustable legs, preferably formed with semi-spherical. enlargements 9 at their lower ends, and having movement in a plane at right-angles to the optlcal axis-and light passage of the machine. The legs 8 have engagement in guide orifices in the bottom web of the casing 1, and in guide bushings 10 in the front web of said casing, as shown.
11 designate clamping screws associated with the bushings 10 and adapted to clamp the legs 8 at their required adjustments.
12 designates companion semi-spherical buttons attached to the aforesaid bottom web' of the casing lnear' the rear corners of the same, andadapted to act as rockers for the casing 1 in the tilting adjustments 'of the same, which in the present structure is attained by the adjustment of the legs 8 aforesaid to properly tilt the casing 1 and objectlve 2, so that the pictures projected Wlll be displayed in proper position on the view or exhibition screen. i
Having thus fully described my said in- 'vention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is z 1. In a motion'pict'ure machine, the combmation of a casing, an objective arranged horlzontally nearthe upper and front end of the same, a leg slidingly arranged atthe lower and front end of the casing in right angle relation to the axis of the objective, and means for securing said leg at the required adjustment, substantially as set forth.
2. In a motion picture machine, the combination of a casing, an objective arranged horizontally near the upper and front end of the'same, a leg slidingly arranged at the lower and front end of thecasing in rightangle relation. to the axis of the objective, means for securing said leg at the required adjustment, and a supporting button attached to the lower and rear end of the easing, substantially as set forth.
. Signed at Chicago, Illinois, this 1st day of February, 1918.
' BRUNO STECHBART.
