M. WALKER, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Apalachicola, in the county of Franklin and State of Florida, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Swings, of which the following is a specification.

My invention is an improvement in.

swings, and has for its object to provide a device of the character specified, wherein an are shaped track is provided, upon which vehicles are adapted to run down one sidel by gravity and to be propelled up the other side by momentum assisted by the movement of the occupants of the vehicle.

In the present embodiment of the invention, a track-way is provided, consisting of arc shaped beams l arranged in parallel spaced relation, and supported by uprights 2, the said beams being so arranged that their centers are the lowest portions thereof. Thus a track-way is provided, lowest at its center, and curving upward at each end.

Rails 3 and 4 are supported bv the stand ards and by the beams, the rails 3 being secured to the tops of the standards which are extended upward above the beams for this purpose, and the rails 4 are secured on the upper edges of the beams. These rails 3 and 4 at each side of the track are continuous, as shown in Fig. 1, being connected by integral arc shaped portions 5. Rails 3 and 4 which are of angle material are arranged with one portion vertical and the other horizontal, and with the horizontal portions in spaced parallel relation..

The vertical portions of the rails 3 abut the inner faces of the standards 2 and are secured thereto by screws or the like, while Specification of Letters Patent.

`A car 6 is mounted to run upon the rails, the'car having front and rear axles 7 secured transversely of the bottom thereof, and having Wheels 8 at their ends. These wheels are of such size, and the horizontal portions of the rails 3 and 4 are so spaced that the wheels may run freely between said horizontal portions, running on the horizontal portions of the rails 4. The rails 3 provide a guard for preventing jumping of the track, and it will be noticed that the nner faces of the standards are lnotched as indicated at 9 to permit the free passage of the ends of the axle.

Two seats whose backs are shown at 10 are provided on each car, so that the occupants of the seats may face each other as shown, and a suitable hand hold 11 is arranged between the seats, in position` to be grasped by the occupants. In operation, the "children for which the swing is especially designed, will occupy the seats as shown, and by throwing their bodies backward and forward in the same manner as used in propelling the swing, the car may be brought.
