TOOL-HOLDER.
- use in connection with nail sets, punches or.
other comparatively small tools, and it is an object of the invention to provide a novel and improved holder of'this. general character which may be readily carried by a digit of a hand of a workman so that the "tool will at all times be accessible.
It is also an object of the-invention to pro-- vide a novel and improved tool holder of this general character adapted to be carried by a digit of a hand of an operator and which positions the tool carried thereby in such a manner as to prevent the tool from offering any obstruction or hindrance to the use of the hand in a working operation such as handling lumber or'other articles or in picking up nails or the like.
' The invention consists in the detailsof constructiona'nd in the combination and ar ran-gement of the several parts of my proved tool holder whereby certain 1m-- portant advantages are attained and the device rendered simpler, less expensive and otherwise more convenient and advantageous for use as will be hereinafter more'fully set forth.
The novel features of my invention will hereinafter be' definitely claimed. In order that my invention may be the better-understood, I will now proceed to describe. the same with reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein:
Figure 1 1s a view in perspective of a tool holder constructed in accordance with an embodiment of my invention, with a tool applied thereto;
-Fig. V2 is a sectional view taken through my improved holder as hereln lncluded, w th the tool omitted; and
Fig. 3 1s a view in Side elevation of my im r'oved'holder as herein disclosed.
s disclosed in the accompanying draw- I ings 1 denotes an annular member or band Specificationof Letters Patent.

Application filed February 9, 1918. Serial No. 216,420.
adapted .to be applied to a digit of a hand and preferably to the second finger. In the present embodiment of my invention the member or band 1 is formed of rubber or other elastic material and is provided with an-outstanding head or block 2 also formed of rubber or other elastic material. The head or block 2 is provided therethrough with an opening 3 substantially tangential to the member or band 1 and through which thetool T, such as a nail set, punch or other small tool is adapted to bedirected and frictionally held.
When the member or band 1 is applied to a digit of a hand, the head or block 2 extends outwardly from the back of the hand with the tool carried by said head or block 2 disposed tranversely of the hand. By this arrangement the tool may be readily and conveniently applied to the Work under general conditions.
My improved device is especially adapted for use bycarpenters, sheet metal workers and kindred trades and is of special advantage in view of the fact that it overcomes the annoyances and delays occasioned by having to look for the tool when desired. It is further desirable for use because it readily permits handling of the work such as lumber, metal sheets or the like and the picking up of nails, etc. without obstruction or in ter'ference being offered by the tool when employed in connection with the holder.
From the foregoing description, it is thought to be obvious that a tool holder constructed in accordance with my invention -is particularly well adapted for useby reason of the convenience and facility with which it may be assembled and operated and it will alsobe obvious that my invention is susceptible of some change and modification 'without departing from the principles and spirit thereof and for this reason I do not wish to be understood as limiting myself to the precise'arrangement and formation of the several parts hereln shown in carrylng out my invention in practice except as here-- inafter claimed.
I claim:
1. As a new article of manufacture, a finger engaging member, and a perforate head carried by the member and through which a tool is adapted to vbe directed, said head being formed of. elastic rubber.
2. As a new article of manufacture, a finger encircling member, and a head formed of elastic rubber carried by said member In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my sald head bemg provided with an opening signature in the presence of two Witnesses.
