SPRAYING-DEVICE ATTACHMENT.
To all whom it may concern: y
Be it known that I, GmEoN E. HALL, citizen of the United States, residing at Devon district, Milford, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Spraying-Device Attachments; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to an attachment for spraying devices of that character used for spraying plants and vegetables of all kinds and descriptions. The ordinary commercial hand spraying device comprises a fluid receptacle, pump and plunger rod. To manipulate this device in the ordinary manner, so as to thoroughly spray all parts of a plant, becomes a diflicult and tedious operation, especially when large tracts are to be treated. The object of my invention is to provide a separate attachment that can readily be applied to the ordinary hand spraying device by any farmer or gardener whereby said device can be manipulated by the operator while in a natural,.erect position and thus avoid the fatigue caused by stooping or bending in order to effectually apply the fluid to the underside of plants.
Referring to the accompanying drawings,
Figure 1 represents the attachment connected to an ordinary spraying device;
Fig. 2 is an enlarged detail view of the stationary support, sectional view of the barrel of the spraying device, and sectional view of the connecting link on line 2, 2 of Fig. 1;
Fig. 3 is an enlarged detail view of the actuating handle lever, and sectional view of the link connecting the handle lever with the stationary support on line 33 of Fig. 1; and i Fig. 4: is a view of the attachment operatively connected to the spraying device showing the tilted position of the device when spraying the underside of a plant.
The spraying device, selected to illustrate the advantage and mode of operation of the attachment, comprises the barrel 1, plunger rod 2, nozzle 8 and fluid receptacle 4.
The stationary support or standard 5 is made of wood or other cheap material and Carries at its lower end the clip 6 adapted to partially embrace the barrel 1 of the Specification of Letters Patent.

7 bolt 7.
The operating pump lever 8 carries at its lower end the clamp 9 adapted to partially embrace the plunger rod 2 and be secured thereto by the bolt 10. To prevent cramping of the lever 8 at each end of its throw, the pin 11 of the clamp is journaled in the support 12 secured to the pump lever by bolts 13.
The link 14 connects the pump lever 8 with the stationary support 5. The side plates 15 are secured to one end of the link by pins 16 and freely embrace said stationary support and are pivotally connected thereto by the pin 17. A similar arrangement comprising plates 18, pins 19 and 20 pivotally connect the opposite end of link 14 with the pump handle lever 8.
The free end of the stationary support 5 is equipped with the handle 21 adjustably secured thereto by the bolts 24., and 23 is a similar handle adjustably mounted on the pump lever by bolts 24. The adjustable feature of these handles afiord means for shortening or lengthening the stationary support and pump handle lever to best suit the convenience of operation of each individual operator.
The stop 25, or similar means, may be mounted on the link 14 to act as a stop for the pump lever when the rod 2 is fully withdrawn.
As before mentioned the attachment is so constructed as to be readily attached to the barrel of the ordinary commercial sprayer by any novice and without the addition of any other parts or appliances.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is:
1. An attachment for a handspraying device having a barrel and plunger rod, a standard detachably secured to the barrel andhaving a handle at its free end, a clamp detachably secured to the plunger rod, a pump lever pivoted to the clamp having a handle at its'free end, and a link pivotally connecting the standard with the pump lever.
2. An attachment for hand spraying devices of the character having a barrel and plunger rod, a stationary support detachably secured to the barrel, a pump lever detachably secured to the plunger rod, a link pivotally connecting the stationary support with the pump lever, an adjustable handle secured to the free end of the stationary pump lever pivoted to the clanap having a support and an adjustable handle secured to handle at 1ts free end, a link plvotally con- 10 the pump lever. necting the standard With the pump lever,
3. An attachment for a hand spraying deand a stop 0 t link to limit the Outward 5 vice having a barrel and plunger rod, a ravel of the plunger rod.
standard detachably secured to the barrel n testlmony wh reof I afiiX my slgnature. and having a handle at its free end, a clamp V detachably secured to the plunger rod, a GIDEON E, HALL,
