IMPROVEMENT IN PLOW-CLEVISES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 128,087, dated June 18, 1872.
which is constructed in the usual manner, ex-
cept that I add to the front end thereof a series of perforated and projecting ears or flanges, marked B. The letter 0 represents an auxiliary clevis having flanges or ears, marked D, upon its rear end, adapted to fit closely within the ears B of the main clevis, and to be held in position by a bolt nut, and screw, in I the manner shown in Fig. 1.
The main jaws of this auxiliary clevis are adapted to receive and hold the whiffletree. The whiffletrce has an opening through its front side and at its longitudinal center, and when in position an ordinary draft bolt is passed through said main jaws and through the whiflletree, thereby holding it securely and firmly between said jaws on a line parallel with the draw-bar or plow-beam, and at the same time allowing fair play therefor horizontally.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The improved clevis herein described, constructed with the main clevis A having flange B, and the auxiliary clevis 0 having flanges D, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
