My invention is especially designed for ready attachment and quick detachment sired, all of the straps on one side only from the overhead band and to readjust the stay, the overhead .band is held in place while the loose straps are drawn back to position and attached thereto, in doing which the face stay readily assumes proper position. Another feature of my invention relates to the construction and manner of bracing the cheek and, chin supporting portion of the'stay by .means of a whalebone frame formed by side or cheek stays cross conmated by two intersecting diagonal chin stays which pass under the chin.

My invention also contemplates the novel means for the attachment of the forehead band.

My invention will be better understood by reference to the accompanying drawings which illustrate its preferred embodiments, and inwhich Figure 1 is a side view of my facestay as worn.

I provide two featherbone chin stays 7 and 8, each of which is connected at one end to an intermediate point of one of the cheek stays 6 and at its other end is connected to the rear end of the other cheek stay near its point of junction with thethroat strap 3. This arrangement disposes thestays .7 and 8 diagonally of the body of the stay and causes them to intersect under the center of the chin and to transfer the weight of the chin to the cheek stays 6. When in position the cheek band 4 passes from the sides ofthe throat upwardly and forwardly in front of the ears and joins the chin band 2 at the temple. Here each end of the chin band and its adjacent cheek bandiare connected to a ,short front elastic strap 9 which passes from the temple upwardly to the top of the end by means of any suitable garment fastener, preferably snap claspsc'omprising a socket member 11 carried on the underface ing members similar to the straps. 9 and adapted to be clasped over the proper one of several spring bases 12 at the rear end of the overhead band 10. At an intermediate point. I attach to the overhead band one end of the elastic forehead band 14, which is drawn about the head across the forehead and its free end is provided with a plurality of fastener-socket members 11-, one of which is clasped to a spring base 12, on the overhead band. The overhead band 10 itself is preferably formed by a broad elastic strap reaching from near the forehead over the head to the back of the neck. y

In applying'the face stay, the stra s9 and 12 on either the right or left side 0 the stay should be clasped at the proper points to the overhead band 10 and it is not necessary to detach them when putting on or tak-' ing off the stay. The overhead band .10 should then be placed in position across the top of the head and held with one hand while with the other hand the stay is drawn around so that the center of the framecomes under the chin withthe chin fitting in the pocket 5 and the chin strap 2 in position under the lip. The free straps 9 and 13 are then drawn up in position to be clasped to the overhead band 10,-thus applying the stay, after'which the free end of the forehead band '14 is drawn around the forehead and clasped to the overhead band. This forehead band overlies the upper meeting ends of the chin and cheek bands, holding them in position. The forehead band serves to prevent the forming of worry or frown lines above the eye brows. When the stay has been thus mounted in place the skin is drawn and worked into proper position under chin, cheek and forehead bands, the chin line under the lip is so deepened by the chin band 2 and the baggy flesh under thechin is supported by the stays 7 and 8, thus preserving the natural chin line and preventing the sagging of the muscles on each side of the chin. To remove the stay it is only necessary to unclasp three clasps which were fastened at the conclusion of the operation of applyin the stay, thus releasing it from one side on y and permitting it to be quickly removed.

.The face stay can be worn at night and will have the additional function and advantage of preventing mouth breathing and inconvenience throughout the day.

Having thus described my invention, what ,I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1: In a device of the character described, an overhead band adapted to extend from the forehead backwardly over the head to the neck, a band connected to the forward end of the overhead band and adapted to pass around in front of the chin, a second hand connected to the rear end of the overhead strap and adapted to pass around the neck and under the chin, and fabric passing over the chin and connecting said bands at the chin.

In a face stay, an overhead band adapted to extend backwardly over the head from near the forehead nearly to the back of the neck, front and rear straps having a detachable connection to opposite ends of said overhead band, a chin supporting ,end of the overhead band and adapted to pass around in front of the chin, a second band connected to the rear end of the overhead strap and adapted to pass around the neck and under the chin, fabric passing over the chin and connecting said bands at the chin, and a forehead band connected at one end to the overhead strap at an intermediate point and adapted to pass around the forehead and be connected at its free end to said,
