ROLLER-MILL SCRAPER.

My invention relates to that class of de-v vices intended to prevent the accumulation of crushed material on the rollers of the socalled roller mills. I am aware that numerous devices have heretofore been devised for this purpose, but all of these devices, in so far as I am advised, have been mounted beneath the rollers and cause considerable trouble whenever it is necessary to gain access thereto for cleaning or other purposes.

It is the principal object of my invention to provide simply constructed and inexpensive scrapers which may be located either on the upper side of the rollers or at any other suitable location other than at the bottom thereof, thus making the devices easily accessible whenever necessary.

With the foregoing general object in view, the invention resides in the novel features of construction and unique combination of parts to be hereinafter fully described and claimed, the descriptive matter being supplemented by the accompanying drawings which form a part of this specification and in which:

In the drawings above briefly described, the numeral 1 designates a pair of rollers of a common type of roller mill, said rollers being positioned beneath the hopper 2 into which the material to be crushed or rolled is fed. A pair of horizontally elongated supports 3, preferably cast from iron or the like, are secured in any preferred manner to the ends of the rolling chamber Ll, on the interior of the latter, the centers of said supports preferably having longitudinal slots 5 through which bolts yor the like 6 are passed. the lower ends of said arms preferably having integral weighted feet 10 which extend laterally therefrom as shown. A pair of scraper bars 11 extend longitudinally on the rollers 1 and are provided at their ends with slots 12 through which fastening screws or other devices 13 pass, said screws or the like being employed for securing the bars 11 adjustably to the feet 10. By connecting the bars 11, by means of the slots 12 and 13 with the feet 10, the device is adjustable for use in connection with rolling mills having rollers of different lengths.

When installing the invention, the supports 3 are secured by the bolts 6 or other suitable fastening means, to the ends of the rolling chamber 4, on the interior of the latter, the arms 9 then depending from the ends of said supports as will be clear from Figs. 1 and`2. When in this position, the arms 9 support the scraper bars 11 either on opposite sides of a pair of co-acting rollers as shown in Fig. 1 or on the opposed sides of a single roller. If the last named arrangement is employed, two sets of scraper bars will be employed for every coacting pair of rollers. It will be observed that the bars 11 contact with the rollers 1 at such points as to permit them to be readily accessible in case the cleaning thereof should be necessary, or if repairs need be made. For these reasons, the improved construction is much more advantageous than any previously employed.

From the foregoing, with the accompanying drawings, it will be obvious that although the invention is of comparatively simple and inexpensive nature, it will be highly eiicient and durable.
