a citizen of the Uni-ted States, residing at Eustis, in the county of Frontier and State of Nebraska, have invented new and useful Improvements in Portable Seats, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to a portable seat adapted to be secured by straps on the body of a person for convenience in milking, berry picking and other occupations that make it necessary to work close to the ground, the object of the invention being to simplify and improve the construction of a device of this class.

A further object of the invention is to produce a seat of simple and improved construction having a. single leg or supporting element connected therewith, the seat being equipped with means for securing it in position for operation.

With these and other ends in view which will readily appear as the nature of the in vention is better understood, the same con sists in the improved construction and novel arrangement and combination of parts which will be hereinafter fully described and par ticularly pointed out in the claim.

In the accompanying drawing has bee-n illustrated a simple and preferred form of the invention, it being, however, understood that no limitation is necessarily made to the precise structural details therein exhibited, but that changes, alterations and modifications within the scope of the claim may be resorted to when desired.

The body of the seat which is designated by 15 has been shown as being approximately circular in shape, a portion being cut away to produce a substantially straight front edge 16. The top face of the seat may be suitably shaped but the bottom face is substantially flat tofacilitate the securing thereon of several angle irons, two of which,

17', are pl-acecbin substantiallyaparallel relation tothe front edge 16 while other angle irons 18, 19 are placed substantially at right angles to the first mentioned irons, the iron 18 extending rearwardly and the iron 19 extending forwardly from an approximately central point of the seat. The innor ends of the angle irons are adapted to receive between them a leg member 20 which is fastened by screws or other fastening means 21 to the downwardly extending portions at the inner ends of the angle irons. The portions of the angle irons l7 and 18 which are disposed in an approximately horizontal plane when the device is in active use terminate slightly beyond the circumference of the seat and are provided with eyes 22 in which links 23 of substantially rectangular shape are pivoted. The angle iron 19 terminates within the circumference of the seat near the substantially straight front edge thereof. The leg member 20 terminates in a tapering point 24 adjacent towhich a shoulder 25 is formed to limit the penetration of the point 24 into the ground.

26 is a belt having a buckle 27 whereby it may be secured around the waist of the operator. Said belt is provided with depending tabs 28 each carrying a buckle 29 with which is adjustably connected the upper end of a strap 30 the lower end of which is connected with one ofthe rectangular links 23. It is obvious that the straps 30 are to be po sitioned at suitable intervals for convenient connection with the links 23.

In operation, the belt 26 is buckled around the waist of the operator, the straps 30 be ing adjusted so as to enable the stool or seat to be conveniently carried. It is obvious that when the wearer of the seat assumes a sitting posture, the point of the leg member 20 will penetrate into the ground until the shoulder 25 reaches the surface of the ground. The seat will thus conveniently support the operator for various occupations such as milking, berry picking, weeding, cotton picking and the like.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is:

A portable seat of approximately circular shape and having a fiat bottom face, radially disposed angle irons sedured on said bottom face and having downwardly extending inner ends, the outer ends of said angle irons having terminal eyes adjacent to and beyond the circumference of the seat at the side and back portions thereof, an additional angle iron secured on the bottom face of the seat and having a downwardly extending inner end, the outer end of said last mentioned angle iron terminating within the circumference of the seat adjacent to the front portion thereof, links engaging the eyes of the first mentioned angle iron, straps connected with the links, a belt connected adjustably with the straps, and a leg secured to and between the downwardly extending inner ends of the several angle irons.
