EXTENSIBLE BRACELET.
Application filed October 14, 1916.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRI LOUIS Ko- CHANSKI, of 32 Rue Michel-le-Comte, Paris, in the Republic of France, jeweler, have invented Improved Extensible Bracelets, of
which the following is a full, clear, and
exact description. 7
The invention relates to an improved extensible bracelet consisting of a plurality of rigid members united. by elastic extensible members which also furnish flexible joints.
My improved bracelet, which presents an elegant appearance and is at the same time both solid and very flexible, will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings wherein Figure 1 shows a part, in elevation, one of the rigid portions of this type of bracelet.
Fig. 2 is an end view of the said rigid portion.
Fig. 3 shows a part, in elevation, of one of the flexible joints connecting the rigid portions of this bracelet.
Fig. 4 is a plan view of the said flexible joint.
Fig. 5 shows a part in plan view one of the extensible joints of this type of bracelet.
Fig. 6 shows in plan view the said extensible joint when it is subjected to a traction stress.
Fig. 7 shows in plan view a portion of this type of bracelet.
Fig. 8 is a side view of another form of the rigid portions of this bracelet.
Fig. 9 is an end View of the rigid portion illustrated in Fig. 8.
Fig. 10 is a horizontal section of one of the elements of the bracelet.
Fig. 11 is an end view thereof.
As shown in this drawing in Figs. 1 to 7, this type of extensible bracelet comprises a certain number of rigid members A (Figs. 1, 2, and 7) and a certain number of elastic members B (Figs. 3, l, 5 and 6) which also provide joints and adapted to connect the rigid members A together.
The rigid members A are formed of two parallel tubes or arranged side by side and slightly curved to conform to the contour of the arm.
The special elastic members B, which at the same time provide joints, comprise a central ring 6 connecting to one another two oppositely directed stirrup pieces 0.
Each limb of the stirrup pieces 0 is fitted Patented Apr. 23., Mill.
Serial No. 125,715.
with a washer d, a coil spring a and a washer f fitted and screwed in a grooveg provided 011 the limbs of the stirrup pieces.
Each of the limbs of the stirrup pieces provided with its elastic device is fitted in the corresponding tube of the rigid member A and thereupon the end of said member is closed over at a beyond the washer d to constitute an abutment. A similar device is fitted at the other end in the same rigid member, which end is also closed over beyond the corresponding washer.
All the elements connected as above set forth constitute an elastic and jointed bracelet.
By exerting oppositely directed tractions on the bracelet in the direction of the ar-' rows Fig. 6, the washers f move forward, so that the springs e are compressed between these washers f and the washers d and thus the bracelet is extended.
By relaxing these tractions, the springs 6 return the constitutive parts of the brace let to their position of rest and thus this bracelet comes back to its primitive length.
In the form of construction illustrated in Figs. 8 to 11, the rigid members A of this bracelet are obtained by using a single tube a of elliptic cross section and sli htly curved to conform to the contour of the arm.
The two opposite sides a a relatively to the large axis of the ellipse serve as recesses for the stirrup pieces 0, as illustrated in Fig. 10 of the drawings.
The limbs of these stirrup pieces, made up as set forth for the first .form of construction, are fitted in perforations provided in the washers cl closing the ends of the rigid member.
Claims:
1. An extensible bracelet comprising a plurality of rigid hollow links having a slight curvature conforming to the shape of the arm,'and a plurality of elastic links intermediate between and connected with successive rigid links, said elastic links comprising two oppositely arranged stirrupshaped members movably mounted in said rigid links, a ring connecting said members with each other, washers secured to the ends of the shanks of said members and springs coiled around said shanks and interposed between said washers and the ends of said rigid links.
2. An extensible bracelet comprising a plurality of rigid hollow links having a slight curvature conforming to the shape of the arm, said linkscomprising a pair of tubes rigidly secured toveach other along one of their sides, and a plurality of elastic links intermediate between and connected with successive rigid links; said elastic links comprising twooppositely arranged stirrup.- shaped members having shanks mounted for longitudinal movement in said rigid links, a ring connecting said members with each other, Washers secured to the ends of Copies at this patent niay be obtained for said shanks, Washers slidably mounted on said shanks and adapted to bear against the ends of said rigid links and springs coiled around said shanks and interposed between said Washers.
The foregoing specification of my improved extensible bracelet signed by me this twenty-second day of September, 1916.
