To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that we, (1) WALTER LHOMADIEU and (2) JAMEs L. BRUMFORD, citizens of the United States, and residents of (l) Oneida, in the county of Madison and State of New York, and (2) Canajoharie, in the county of Montgomery and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fan-Supports, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to new and useful improvements in fan supports, and the primary object of the invention is the provision of a new and improved supporting device whereby electric fans of the conventional type, are adapted to be supported at any desired angle, and to be detachably connected with the conventional type of electrical fixture, drop cord or bracket as desired.

Another object of the invention is to provide a device of this character which is easily and simply constructed, inexpensive to manufacture, and one which will be very eflicient in operation.

With these and numerous other objects in view our invention consists of the novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts which will be herein referred to and more particularly pointed out in the specification and claims.

In describing our invention we shall refer to the drawings in which similar reference characters designate corresponding parts throughout the several views.

The numeral 1 designates an electric fan of the conventional type, that is provided with a motor 2 adjacent one side thereof, and the usual form of frame 3 that forms a guard for the blades of said fan. Our new and improved supporting device includes a bracket 4, that is formed from a substantially U-shaped strip of metal having a longitudinally extending slot 5 therein, and the opposite ends of said strip are bent inwardly toward each other, and are secured to the inner side of the motor 2 as clearly shown in Fig. 1 of the drawings.

The attaching means employed in this device includes a tubular member 6 having its inner end externally threaded as shown at 7, and said end being adapted to be posi tioned in the slot 5, and clamped to the bracket 4: by means of a pair of clamping nuts 8 disposed on opposite sides of said bracket, on the end of the'member, whereby the said member is adapted to be adjustably connected with said bracket for a purpose which will be hereinafter more fully described.

Secured within the outer end of the bracket 6 is a conventional type of attaching plug 9, and extending therefrom through the tubular member 6 and bracket, and connected with the motor 2 are a pair of current conducting wires 10.

In operation the tubular member 6 is adapted to have its outer end 9, in which the plug is positioned connected with the conventional type of electric light fixture, or drop cord, and owing to the fact that the bracket at is adjustably connected with the outer end of said member, it is obvious that the fan maybe adjusted to any desired angle. The plug 9 is connected by wires 10 with the motor 2, so that current may be carried thereto, to operate the fan, when the support is in position.

This device forms a simply constructed and economically manufactured fixture, for securely holding an electriofan in various Patented Apr. 23, iljlL,

adjusted positions, and connecting the same connection with the accompanying drawing,

the advantages of the construction and of the method of operation will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art to which the invention appertains, and while we have described the principle of operation of the invention, together with the device which we now consider tobe the best embodiment thereof, we desire to have it understood that the device shown is merely illustrative, and

that such changes may be made when desired as are within the scope of the claims appended hereto.

Having fully described our invention, what we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:

1. The combination with an electric fan having a motor, of a substantially U-shaped bracket secured to said motor, said bracket having a slot therein, a tubular supporting member having its free end positioned through said slot, means for releasably connecting said end of the member to the bracket, a plug in the other end of said member, and current conducting wires extending from said plug through the member to the motor.

2. A device of the class described including a substantially' U-shaped bracket having its ends adapted to be connected to an electric fan, said bracket having a longitudinally extending slot therein, a tubular sup I porting member having one end positioned in said slot, and clampm nuts on said end to secure the same to they racket in various adjusted positions.

3. A device of the class described including a substantially U-shaped bracket having its ends adapted to be connected to an electric fan, said bracket having a longitudinally extending slot therein, a tubular supporting member having one end positioned in said slot, clamping nuts on said end to releasably secure the same to the bracket, a plug in the opposite end of said member, and an electrical connection between the same and the fan motor extending through said member.
