To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, GEORGE AVBOOMER, a citizen of the United States, residing at \Vaterbury, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Bowl- Hangers for Semi-Indirect-Lighting Fixtures; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings and the characters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact descriptionof the same, and which said drawings constitute part of this application, and represent, in-

My invention relates to an improved bowlhanger for semi-indirect lighting fixtures, the object being to produce, at a low cost for manufacture, a simple, convenient and attractive bowl-hanger of the character described.

With these ends in view, my invention consists in a bowl-hanger characterized by a plurality of radially arranged rigid hangerarms havin their upper ends fixed to a hanger-hea and their lower ends formed with upturned, downwardly opening goosenecks for the reception of the rim of the bowl, the outer ends of the said goose-necks being furnished with suspension means.

My invention further consists in a bowlhanger for semi-indirect lighting fixtures, having certain details of construction as will be hereinafter described and pointed out in the claims.

In carrying out my invention as shown in Figs. 1 to at lnclusive, I employ three fixed, radially arranged, rigid hanger-arms 5 made of heavy wire and having their diverging lower ends bent to form upstanding, downwardly opening, goose-necks 6 for the reception of the edge ofthe bowlwhich is not shown, the outer ends of the goose-necks being bent downwardly and formed with. threaded openings for the reception of suspension screws 7 entering the spaces incl osed by the said goose-necks, and providing points from which the bowl is suspended. The outwardly turned rim of the bowl rests upon the upperfaces of the projecting inner endsof these screws. The upper ends of the said .hangerearms 5 are flattened and bent in the vertical plane to form fastening fingers 8 which are passed upward through slots 9 formed near the outer edge of an an nular horizontal flange 1O turned inward at a right angle from a collar 11 at the lower end of a hanger-head in the form of a ceiling-she1l 12 the flange 13 of which is perforated as at 14 for the reception of screws by means of which the shell is fastened to the ceiling. The said fingers 8 are formed with threaded openings for the reception of screws 15 passing through the collar 11, whereby the arms 5 are rigidly secured to the hanger-head in fixed relation to each other. The concentric opening 16 of the flange 10 receives a suitable lamp-socket, which is not shown.

In the modified construction shown by Fig. 5, the fixed, radially arranged, rigid hanger-arms 5 having goose-necks 6 and suspension screws 7- are fastened by rivets 17 within the lower edge of a ring-like hangerhead 18 formed at its upper end with screw threads 19 for the reception of a threaded collar 20 which is formed at its upper end with an inwardly turned suspension-flange 21 resting upon an outwardly turned lip 22 at the lower end of a ceiling-shell 23. This construction provides for the rotation of the hanger-head 18 with respect to the shell 13 which is in some cases desirable.

I claim 1. In a bowl-hanger for semi-indirect lighting fixtures, the combination with a ceiling-shell, of a plurality of radially arranged rigid hanger-arms having their upper ends connected to the said shell in fixed relation thereto and their lower ends formed with upturned downwardly opening goosenecks for the reception of the rim of a bowl, and set-screws carried by the said goosenecks for securing the rim of the bowl therein.

2. In a bowl-hanger for semi-indirect lighting fixtures, the combination with a ceiling-shell adapted to be directly applied to a ceiling, of a plurality of radially arranged rigid hanger-arms having their up per ends fastened in fixed relation to the lower end of the said shell and having their lower ends formed with upturned, downwardly opening goose-necks for the reception of the rim of a bowl, and set-screws carried by the said goose-necks for securing the rim of the bowl therein.

8. As a new article of manufacture, a rigid hanger-arm for use in the manufacture of semi-indirect lighting fixtures, the said arm being adapted at its upper end to be rigidly fastened to a member of the fixture and having its lower end formed with an upturned, downwardly opening goose-neck for the reception of a rim of a bowl, and the outer end of the said goose-neck being furnished with a set-screw for securing the rim of the bowl in the goose-neck.

4. A removable attachment for a socket set-screw of said cover by means of which the arm is connected to said cover, the other end of the arm being bent into substantially an inverted U-shape to receive the rim of a bowl, and a set-screw for securing the bowl therein. I

5. In a bowl-hanger for lighting fixtures, an arm having a flat end extending upwardly at an inclination to the body of the arm to form a fastening finger and adapted to re ceive a fastening device, the other end of the arm being bent into substantially an inverted U shape to receive the rim of a bowl, and a screw in said U-shaped end to secure the bowl therein.
