Be it linownthat, iViLnH. VAN Gninonn, a citizen o-thc United States, and residentof New Rochelle, in the county of Westches ter and State of New `York, have invented certain new and useful improvements 'in Molding-Machines, of which the 'following is a specification.
The present invention relates to molding machines, and it has for an object to provide a construction having tivo or more mold walls connected by a frame or clamp which permits relative movement of the Walls so that the machine'may be combined with another machine to produce moloed corners of different angles, or may be used separately to embrace a window or door frame in order that a wall may be formed in close proximity to the window or door frame.
Another object ot the invention is to improve the construction or" molding machines to reduce the cost of manufacture thereoiz and to increase their durability.
To these and other ends the invention con sists of certain parts and combinations of parts all of which will be hereinafter de- Aone end;
scribed, the novel features being pointed out in the appended claims.

To prevent the collapsing of the core member, the uprights 24 may each be prtwided with a beveled lug 27, while the uprights 25 may be provided each with a pair ot beveled lugs 28 lying in vertical planes on opposite sides of the lug 27 on the adj aeent upright 24. ToI operate between the projections or lugs 27 and 28 locking bars 29 are suspended from pivots 30 on the links 18,
lo and have each a pair of laterally-turned flanges 31 at their lower ends for coperating with the lugs 28 to prevent lateral movement of the locking bars.
With the end in View of providing mold 1b chambers, beyond the ends of the mold walls 1 and 21, the molding machine is provided with walls or extensions 32 preferably inv the form of slides guided lbetween the uprights G and the mold wall 1 and between the outwardly-turned portions 2 and 4 on the mold walls 1. These slides or extensions 32 are preferably removable from the machine so that extensions of other lengths ,or shapes may be employed. Means is also provided for securing the slides in their adjusted positions on the machine, this means in thisinstance comprising a hand nut 33 operating on a bolt 34 which projects from the wall through a slot 35 in the plate to permit the removal of the plate without removing the bolt. The uprights 6 are secured in spaced relation from the ends of the walls 1 so that the slide extensions 32 may be moved inwardly within the edge of said mold walls 1.
0n an end of each of the slides 32 reinforcing strips 36 are employed having lateral eyes 37 arranged in vertical alinement, so that the slides on two machines may be connected by a connecting piece 38, shown in Fig. 11, having a hand portion 39 and two pairsv of'hooks or projections 40, each pair connecting two lugs 37 on different machines.
In Fig. 3 two machines are shown connected for forming a corner, the slides 32 at the inner portieri of the corner not being projected from the walls l as far as the slides 32 at the outer portion of the corner.
In this construction, the slide 32 is of greater length than that shown in 2,
and is provided with an additional slot 35 so that the slide may be4 moved inwardly to the extreme limit. Of course the machine with such a slide must be longer than that illustrated in Fig. 2. For forming the air space in the angled corner, an angled core 41 may be provided which has plates 42 projecting from its endsv and resting upon seats 43 formed on the uprights-24 and An angle iron 44 may be arranged within the mold at the outer corner, this angle iron being set upright, and, in rming the cor- 55 ner, thc machine being guided thereby. This plate, the slot opening in the end of the makes it possible with the smallest amount of labor to' secure a corner which is plumb in every respect.
ln Fig. 4, two machines are .connected for forming a chimney, flue or pilaster. The slide 32 of one machine is extended and connected to the unextended slide of the other machine. The other two proximate slides are not withdrawn but are connected by i a pilaster attachment. This attachment comprises preferably a front plate 45 adjustably connected by slots 46 and thumbnuts and bolts 47 with lateral portions 48 on two end walls. Each of these end walls comprises two sections 49 and 50 adjustably 8o connected together, the section 49 having slots 51 and the section 50 having bolts 52 adjustable in said slots 51. The section 50 carries two depending alined pintles 53 which are adapted to enter the alined eyes 37 on the adjacent slide 32. This arrange` ment permits a pilaster or flue to be formed having any suitable width and any suitable depth. The corners of the pilaster are defined by angle irons 44 which are set up- 90 right in the manner described as to Fig. 3. The air space in the pilaster may be formed by a core 54 having plates 42 resting upon the seats 43 at the adjacent ends of the two machines.
For forming flat walls at doorways, windows, or the like, an end Wall 55 may be employed. vThis wall has two pairs of horizonl al slots 56, each Slot having a plurality of recesses 57 in its lower wall. locking members 58 secures the end wall :Tui to the machine, these locking members being in the form of plates having lateral projections 5S) with depending pintlcs G0, the depending pintles being alined. These pintles are adapted to be passed through the eyes 37 on the ends of the slides 32 in the manner shown in Fig. 12 for the purpose of locking the end wall 58 to the slides 32.

A molding machine constructed in accordance with this invention'is inexpensive to manufacture and simple to operate.
