Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 2th, 191?.
Application filed December 30, 1916. Serial No. 139,799.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE MARKUS, a subject of the Emperor of Austria, and a resident of New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Clothes- WVringer Cabinets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates toimprovements in domestic laundry appliances and particularly with reference to cabinets for thereception of hand operated clothes wringers.
The principal object of the invention is to provide a neat appearing and commodious cabinet in which the wringer is maintained at all times, the whole being readily portable from place to place as may be desired.
.These and other similar objects are attained by the novel design, construction and combination of parts hereafter described and shown in the accompanying drawings, forming a material part of this specification, and in which Figure I is a front elevational view of the cabinet shownin a closed position.
Fig. 2 is a side view of the same.
.Fig. 3 is another front view showing the doors opened and disclosing the Wringer in its lowermost position.
Fig. 4 is a sectional view taken on line 4--4 of Fig. 5. v
Fig. .5 is a front elevation showing the doors open and the wringer in its uppermost or operative position.
Fig. 6 is a vertical sectional view taken on line 66 of Fig. 3. I
Fig. 7 is a plan view showing the link supporting elements, and
Fig. 8 is a similar plan view of the same, the parts being in another position.
The device comprises a stand supported upon feet 11 resting upon a level surface, the stand having at its lower portion a drawer 12 in which may be retained any accessories of the laundry.
Hingedly attached to the main side elements 14, which are rigid with the back 10.
and the base 13 are hinged doors 15 so that the front of the cabinet may be closed.
Also to each of the sides 14 and on the inner surfaces thereof are links 18 and 19 respectively, the same being of equal length and secured pivotally by posts 20 and 21,
the latter or rear pair of which are somewhat longer than the front posts 20 so as to allow the pairs of links to pass when they are turned on their pivots and caused to assume different positions, the other ends of the links being similarly attachedby means of the pivot posts 22 and 23 to a base plate 25 upon which the wringer 27 is rigidly;
mounted.
Thus it is possible to raise or lower the wringer by a swinging movement in which the plate 25 is turned through a half circle from an extreme upper position, as shown in Fig. 4, to its lowest position, as shown in Fig. 6, and when in this low position, the open top of the cabinet maybe covered by a curved segmental casing 28 held by hinges 29 to the rear element 10 of the casing, the
operation of moving the machine being facilitated by the handle 26v secured to the plate 25.
In order to make the cabinet more convenient, a plurality o f arms 36 are engaged by hinges 31, arranged on the inner surface of the side elements 14, the same being of such length that when the cabinet is closed the arms may be closed therein. I
From the foregoing, it will be seen that a convenient cabinet has been disclosed which will readily fulfil the objects-set forth.
Having thus described my invention, What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
In a cabinet, the combination with a rectangular casing having rigid 'side andrear walls, a cover hinged to said rear wall, and a pair of doors hinged to said side walls adapted to cover the front of the cabinet,
of a pair of support links pivotally engaged to said side walls at the front thereof, a second pair of support links pivoted in the same horizontal plane to said side walls, said second links being disposed at a greater distance from said side walls thanthe first named pairof links, all of'said links being of uniform length, a base plate to which said links are pivotally engaged at their opposite ends, and means for operating said base plate whereby it may be extended above the cabinet or suspended therewithin.
Signed at New York, in the county of New York, and State of New York, this 2nd day of December,-19 16.
. GEORGE MARKUS.
