certain new and useful Improvements in Door Constructions for Silos; and we do declare the following to be a full, clear, and
' exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to silos and more particularly to the door construction and operating mechanism for the same.
An'object of the invention is to provide means whereby a silo door may be opened and closed at will.
Another object is to provide means for lockin the door in closed position when so desire Still another object is to provide means whereby the door may be held fully open or closed or in a plurality of positions.

The frame 1 is of any suitable size and has a door 2 adapted to fit therein. Positioned near the top of the frame 1 are bearings 3 and 1, through which a shaft 5 passes. One end of the shaft 5 is made smaller as at 6 to permit the handle or lever 7 to pass thereon. The handle 7 is limitedly pivoted to the shaft 5 by the pin 8. I
The shaft '5 carries a substantially U- shaped hanger 9 which is L-shaped in side elevation, and is pivotally fastened at 10 to the door 2, for swinging the door open and closed.
The bearing 1 is substantially C-shaped and has its lower arm'formed at its outer end with a hook 11, whereas the upper arm- 12 has slots 13 formed therein.

It will be observed that thevertical or central portion of the bearing 1 is bowed outwardly asindicated at 41, it being within this outwardly bowed portion that the shaft 5' is received. Theentire bearing 4 is by preference formed of a single piece of metal, stamped into shape, but a casting could well be employed if desired.
A resilient bar 17 isdetachably hingedat 18 to one side of the frame 1 and is permitted to tilt as seen. in dotted lines in Fig. 1. On the opposite side of the frame 1 is positioned a retaining member 19, having a shoulder forming a cam 20, upon which the bar 17 slidesoutwar'dly until it is forced ipto locked position in said'retaining memer. I V c A keeper 21 is attached to the door .2 at about the central point thereof and hook 22 is adjustably connected to the resilient bar 17 by the bolt 23 and is adapted to engage with the keeper 21 to hold the door in closed position;
In operating the device, to open the door, it is only necessary to lift up the spring bar 17 out of engagement with the retaining .member (see Fig. 1) and then unfasten the hook 22 from the keeper 21. Then by pulling the handle 7 out of engagement with the shoulder 15 of the L-shaped plate 1 1, and swinging it down, the dOOr will be caused to be opened by the hanger 9. It is then only seen that the door may be readily. opened and closed, also that it may be held in a plurality of different positions.
Various changes in the form, proportion and the minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the principle or sacrificing any of the advantages of the claimed invention.
'We claim as our invention:
1. The combination with a door frame and a. door operatively coacting with the rear side thereof, of a rock shaft journaled adjacent the upper end of the frame, at the front side thereof, a hanger depending from said rock shaft and connected pivotally with said door, an operating handle extending laterally from one end of said rock shaft and pivotally connected therewith for swinging longitudinally thereof, and a pair of keepers positioned adjacent opposite sides of said shaft for cooperation with said handle for locking the shaft against movement when the door is respectively opened and closed.
2. The combination with a door frame and a door operatively coacting with the rear side thereof, of a horizontal rock shaft mounted adjacent the upper end of said frame, at the front side thereof, a hanger carried by said shaft and connected pivotally with said door, an operating handle extending laterally from one end of said shaft and pivoted thereto for swinging longitudinally thereof, a keeper adjacent one side of said shaft for coaction with said handle when the door is in one position, a second keeper adjacent the other side of the shaft for co action with said handle when the door is in its other position, a horizontal arm extending forwardly from the frame and contacting with said last named keeper, and means connecting this keeper and said arm adjustably. V
3. The combination with a door frame and a door operatively associated with the rear side thereof, of a horizontal rock shaft mounted at the front side of said frame, adjacent the upper end thereof, a C-shaped bearing member having its vertical portion secured to said frame and bowed forwardly mamas to provide a bearing for one end of said shaft, keepers carried by the upper and lower arms of said bearing member, and an operating handle extending laterally from said rock shaft and pivotally connected therewith for swinging longitudinally there of, said handle coacting with one of said keepers when the door is closed and with the other when said door is opened.
4. The combination with a door frame and a door operatively associated with the rear side thereof, of a horizontal rock shaft mounted at the front side of said frame, adjacent the upper end thereof, a Q-shaped bearing member having its vertical portion secured to said frame and bowed forwardly to provide a bearing for one end of said shaft, one of the horizontal arms of said bearing member having a keeper formed on its free end whereas the other arm is formed with a longitudinal slot, a keeper contacting with said last named arm, a fastener passing through said slot and said last named keeper for securing the latter in ad justed position, and an operating handle eX- tending laterally from said rock shaft and pivotally connected therewith for swinging longitudinally thereof, said handle coasting with one of said keepers when the door is opened and with the other when said door is closed.
