oANDLEsTIoK-HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 18, 1917.
Application led November 29, 1915.- Serial No. 64,131.
To all whom it may concern t Be it known that I, tVAsCo BELLODI, a citii zen of the United States, residing at Sunlight, in the county of Garfield, State of Colo- \rado, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in CandlestickJ-Iolders; and
adapted to hold a candle which When burn-v ing will furnish light to enable the miner to 'recharge the carbid \receptacle Without the necessity of going to the lighted end of the shaft. l
A further object of the invention is to provide a device of this character which is formed from a single piece of sheet metal, and is provided with means whereby the device may be clamped rmly to the lamp.
lVith these and vother objects in view, this invention resides in the novel features of construction, formation, combination and.
arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in
which l Figure 1 is a top plan View of the device. Fig. 2 is a side elevation.
F ig. 3 is a sectional view on line of Fig. l.
The device is 'formed from a single length of sheet metal which is bent so as-to provide a socket l, said socket being substantially semi-circular in cross section, and is adapted to receive the candle stick.
' Extending at right angles from the edges of the socket 1 are horizontally disposed plates` 2 which have their forward ends terminating in semi-circular arms 3, said arms having their outer ends arranged in overlapping relation. rl`he arms 3 are adapted to receive therebetween the body of a conventional form'of miners lamp, and after the arms are engaged therearound the overlapping ends may be' soldered if it is desired to make the device a permanent part of the lamp.
The plates 2 are provided with registered openings it and in which islengaged a bolt 5, rthe threaded end of which has engagedA ythereon an adjusting nut 6.
Thus it will be seen that upon manipulation of the nut 6 that the arms Bean be l firmly clamped into engagement With the lamp so as to prevent rattling.
To prevent the bolt 5 from rotating when the nut 6 is manipulated the head of said bolt is squared, and the opening in which it is engaged is correspondingly shaped.
To prevent the overlapping ends ot' the arms from moving away from each other When the device isclamped on the lamp aring 7 is engaged with the overlapping end, it being of course understood that this ring is not used when the ends are soldered.
`What is claimed ist* A device of the class described formed from a single strip of material bent intermediate its ends to form a receiving socket, spaced parallel arms forming extensions in vsaid socket and provided with alined openings, one of which is squared, the portions of the strip contiguous to said arms and forming the ends of said strip being bent to provide semi-circular arms for embracing a lamp, a bolt extending through said openings and transversely of the first named arms and having a squared head in engagement with said squared opening, and a nut threaded on said bolt and disposed between the said socket 1 nd the adjacent one of the second named arms when in fastening position against the adjacent one of the first named arms.
In testimony whereof, I affix my signature, in the' presence of two witnesses.
