In the embodiment illustrated, the scoop or scraper is of well known form, being preferably constructed of sheet metal, having a bottom 6, end walls 7, and a rear wall 8, the connection between the end walls 7 and bottom 6 being preferably reinforced byV angle bars 9. A draft bar of well knownV form is shown at 10, and has a link connection 11 with the end walls. The scraper or scoop body is furthermore provided with suitable dumping runners 12 secured to thev end walls 7 and connected by a cross bar 13. A handle bar 14 is attached to the rear wall 8. So far as thus described, no claim is made to the structure per se.
In the present embodiment, the end portions of the bottom 6 are provided with upstanding pockets 15, which may be formed by upsetting the bottom or by cutting out said bottom and attaching suitably formed plates thereto. The outer vwalls of theseV union.
laxtending across the lower open sides of the pockets are axles 18, each axle having an outer terminal eye 19 through which a vertical bolt 20 passes, said bolt passing through-the inturned flange v16 of the end Awalls 7 and the reinforcing bar 9, thus securing the outer end of the axle to said end wall. The inner end of the axle is seated in the upset portion or socket 17 of the bottom, as shown in Fig. 5, and is held therein by any suitable means, as for instance, a strap 2l extending 'across said axle and bolted as shown at 22 to they Vbottom 6. Journaled on these axles are supporting wheels 23, the hubs 24 of said wheels tapering toward both ends. Interposed between the ends of the hubs and the end walls of the pockets 15 are hub caps 25 that preferably overlap the ends of the hubs 24, so as to serve as a guard, and also act as spacing means for maintaining the wheels in proper positions in the pockets. It will be evident thatV with this wheel mounting the scraper or scoop will more readily move, and thus eliminate the draft or drag upon the team. At the same time, it does not add materially to the weight or cost of the apparatus, nor does it interfere with the usual loading, transporting and dumping action.
From the foregoing, it is thought that the construction, operation and many advanunderstood rthat various changes in the size., shape, proportion, and minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention.

In apparatus of vthe character set forth, the Combination with a scoop body having a bottom, end walls, a back and upstanding pockets in the bottom, the outer sides of said pockets being formed by said end walls, and the bottoni having upstanding portions at the inner sides of the pockets, of axles eX- tending across the pockets, said axles having outer terminal eyes lying below the end walls and having their inner ends seated and secured in the upstanding portions of the bottoms, fasteners for the aXles engaged in the eyes of said axles and engaging the end walls, and wheels journaled on the axles, and having their upper portions in the pockets, said wheels projecting below the bottoni.
