tions for player pianos, and more particularly to the class of chest and pneumatic construction of player actions for player pianos.
The primary object of the invention is the provision of a pneumatic action wherein its construction is generally improved and simplified to render the same more compact and less likely to become out of order.
Another object of the invention is the pro vision of pneumatic action wherein convenient and quick access may be had to the interior parts thereof should the occasion require both the chest and pneumatics being novel in form to assure the perfect working of the action.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a pneumatic action which is extremely simple in construction, reliable and eiiicicnt in operation, strong, durable, and inexpensive in manufacture.
lVith these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the construction, com bination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and pointed out in the claims hereunto appended.

Referring to the drawings in detail, the pneumatic action comprises a chest board. A, preferably made from wood, and has fitted on the rear face thereof at the upper edge of the same a tube block 11, while spaced at the desired intervals apart beneath the said block and secured to the rear face of the chest board are tracker tube rails 11 which together with the bleed tube block have fixed thereto the chest or back boards 12 supporting the pneumatics hereinafter fully described.
Each pneumatic comprises a valve block 13 which is suitably fixed to its respective back board 12 formed with a valve chamber 1 1 and a valved air port 15 which establishes .communication between the said chamber and an air compartment 16 formed in the upper side of an auxiliary block 17 fixed to the under side of the valve block 13, and
this air compartment 16 communicates with the air chest 18 formed in the chest board A through the medium of a chest channel 19.
Provided in the auxiliary block 17 be neath the air compartment 16 is a diaphragm chamber 20 which is separated from the said compartment 16 by means of a flexible diaph agm 21 adapted to actuate the valve member 22 of usual form and located in the valve chamber 14, while leading from this diaphragm chamber 20 through the tube rail 11 next thereto of the chest board A and tracker tube block 11 is a tracker passage 23 which has communication with the tracker board in the usual manner, and from this tracker passage 23 and opening into the air compartment 16 is a vent 24 to establish communication therebetween.
Mounted upon the auxiliary block 17 at the under side thereof is the stationary member 25 of a bellows 26, the movable member 27 of which has connected thereto a striker element 28 as usual, the same being slidable through a guide rail 29 secured to the rear end of the auxiliary block 17. Leading from the valve chamber 14 through the valve block 18 and auxiliary block 17 and opening into the bellows 26 is a passage 30 for placing the valve chamber and bellows in communication with each other, while the top of the valve block 13 is formed with the usual air openings 31 which together with the port 15 are controlled by the valve member 22 during the working of the pneumatic action.
It will be apparent that each row or tier of pneumatics is in communication with an individual chest 18, and that is to say, a separate chest is provided with each row or tier of pneumatics, which individual chest is connected with a vacuum source in any ordinary well-known manner.
The action operates in the usual manner and as the method of operation does not form a part of the present invention and does not dilter from the usual action, it will be well-known to those skilled in the art and need not be hereii'iatter described, and therefore a more extended explanation has been omitted.
What is claimed is 1. A pneumatic action comprising a chest board, a tube block fitted to the rear face thereof, a tracker tube rail arranged on the rear face of said board below the tube block, a back boa .d mounted upon said block and rail, a tracker passage leading through said tube block, chest board and tube rail, valve blocks each fixed to the back board and haw ing a valve chamber and valved air ports, an auxiliary block fixed to the valve blocks and having an air compartment and a diaphragm chamber for communication respectively with the tracker and bleed passages in the block and rail, a valve located in the valve chamber, a diaphragm closing the diaphragm chamber and for action upon the valve, and a bellows carried by the auxiliary block and having communication with the valve chamber.
2. A pneumatic action comprising a chest back board mounted upon said block, valve blocks each fixed to the back board and having avalve chamber and valved air ports, an auxiliary block fixed to the valve blocks and having an air compartment and a diaphragm chamber, for communication respec tively with the tracker and bleed passages in the block and rail, a valve located in the valve chamber, a diaphragm closing the diaphragm chamber and for action upon the valve, and a bellows carried by the auxiliary block and having communication with the valve chamber, said auxiliary block being provided with a vent establishing communi cation between the air compartment and the bleed tube passage.
