2X) ewe (Jr Luau! I 7 JohnJ Fit gera zi,
JOHN F T GER LD. 0. RQQKL YORK TABLE-COVER;
To all whom z't may concern: I
Be it known that I, JOHN J. FITZGERALD, a citizen of the Unitedv States, and residing at Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Table- Covers, of which the following is a specifiobject being to provide a device 'of the class specified which may be compactly folded up when not muse; and with these and other objects in view the invention consists in a device of the class specified, constructed as hereinafter described and claimed.
The invention is fully disclosed in the following specification, of which the accompanying drawing forms a part, in which the separate parts of my improvement are designated by suitable reference characters in each ofthe views, and in which Figure l is a plan view showing one form of my improved table cover with part broken away;
Fig. 2 a View similar to Fig.1 but showing a modification;
Fig. 3 a side view of a table with the cover shown in Fig. 1 applied thereto and in section on the line 33 of said figure.
Fig. 4 a view similar to Fig. 3 but showing the cover indicated in Fig. 2, said coverbeing sectioned on the line 44: of said figure;
Fig. 5 a View showing the cover shown in Fig. 1 folded once; and,
Fig. 6 a View showing the framework of the cover shown in Fig. 2 folded twice.
In the accompanying drawing, I have shown at a a tablewhich iscircular in form prising a frame or rim portion 5?, a top Specification of Letters Patent.

Application filed; December 21, 1915. Serial N 0. 68,018.
From the extended or operative position of the table cover I), as shown in Figs. 1 and 3, said cover may be folded into the position shown in Fig. 5 on the hinges If in which operation the' top or fabric faces of said cover are brought together.
In the construction shown in Figs. 2,4 and 6, the padding or cushioning member 5* is omitted and the frame or rim portion Z2 is composed of four parts hinged together-at b and 6 said hinges at I) being clearly shown in section in Fig. 4, whereby the frameor rim portion may be folded, as shown in Fig. 6, thereby producinga more compact frame than that shown in Fig. 5, and it will; be understoodthat the frame shown in Figs. 2, 4 and 6'is first folded on the hinges 6 into the position shownv in Fig. 5, after which the two halves of the frame I or rim portion are folded on the hinges 5 into the position shown in Fig. 6.
The frame or rim portion 6 may be composed of metal, wood, or any other suitable material, and while I have shown and described the frame or rim portion composed of separate parts adapted to be folded together, it will be understood that said frame or rim portion may be made continuous or without folding means, and while I have shown said table cover adapted for. use in connection with a round table, it will be un derstood that the shape or form ofsaid cover may be varied and used in connection with tables of any desired form and construction.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A detachable table covering, comprising a fabric sheet in the edge portion of which is secured an annular frame or rim portion,
said frame or rim portion being composed of four similar parts hinged together, whereby said covering may be first folded centrally and transversely and the folded parts again folded in the plane of the frame or rim portion to form a compact package.
2. In a device of the class described, an annular frame divided up into four similar arc-shaped parts hinged together whereby said frame may be first folded into two parts and again folded at right angles to said first fold to bring the folded parts together and a fabric sheet, the edges of which are connected with the inner faces of said frame or the separate arc-shaped parts thereof.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed my name in presence of the subscribing Witnesses this 18th day of December 1915.
JOHN FITZGERALD.
