G1 Attachments for Sewing-Machines, o; the following is a description, reference being had to the accompany ng drawing to the figures of reference thereon.

My invention relates to folding guides for attachment to sewing machines, the ob ject being to provide such an attachment to guide and turn a hem on a piece of fabric, and at the same time fold around the edge of the hem fold a binding strip, to deliver the same to the stitch-forming mec anism of a sewing machine, v-vheroby the fabric, the turned-in portion thereof and the binding strip hen). folds are secured together by line of stitchine".

In these drawings, 1 represents a base piece adapted to he adjustabl attached to the bed plate of a sewing machine, The sewing machine herein shown, or so much as is necessary to a complete understanding of my invention, is of the well known Union Special type of two line machine. Having thus described my invention, what 1 claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1. A folding guide for sewing machines comprising a supporting base, a fabric support projecting laterally from said base and terminating in a guiding recess, whereby of the fabric is folded back upon itself, said folding guide having a recess extending above and below the end of said {first named recess for guiding a tape, said recesses merging into each other at the delivery end of the folder, whereby the tape is folded around the edge of the folded buc k fabric,

2. folding guide for sewing machines comprising a supporting base, a fabric support projecting laterally from said base, and terminating in a guiding recess, whereby he ed e of the fabric is folded back 11 )on 41 l itself, said folding guide having a recess extei'uling above and below the end of said first named recess for guiding a tape, said recesses merging into each other at the derojecting rearwardly from the vertical livery end of the folder, hereby the tape is folded around the edge of the folded back fabric, said recess for the tape having means for folding the edges of the tape as it passes through the. folder.

3. A folding guide for sewing machines comprising a supporting base, a vertical Wall rising therefrom and having a laterally projecting lip, a fabric support carried by said base and extending laterally therefrom and beneath said lip, said fabric support being spaced from'said lip and vertical wall, and from said supporting base at its inner side, whereby a fabric resting on said sup port may be folded back underneath itself,

and fabric support having a guiding recess formed therethrough extending above and below the edge of the folded fabric, whereby a tape may be folded around the edge of the fabric.

4. The combination of a sewing machine having spaced needles of a folding guide said supporting base comprising a supporting base, a fabric support projecting laterally from said base-and terminating in a guiding recess whereby the edge of the fabric is folded back upon itself, said folding guide having a recess extending above and below the end of said first named recess for guiding a tape, said recesses merging into each other at the delivery end of the folding guide whereby the tape is folded around the edge of the folded back fabric, said folding guide being so disposed relative to said spaced needles that one of said needles passes through the folded fabric adjacent the fold therein while the other needle passes through the fabric adjacent the free edge of the fold and through the edges of said tape.
