To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, EMMERSON N. SHAW, a citizen of the United States, residing at San Francisco, in the cou'nty of San Francisco, State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Stoves; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to a stove.

An object of the invention resides in the provision of a stove which may be conveniently used for camping purposes and which is so constructed that it may be folded for packing and transportation.

A further object of the invention resldes in the provision of a stove including a plurality of burners which are constructed for the reception of a fire paste such as described in my co-pending application filed Jan. 25, 1916 Ser. No. 74,260.

A still further object of the invention resides in the provision of a burner which is so constructed that it will burn vapor and that the size of the flame may be controlled.

A still further object of the invention resides in so constructing the device that the burners may be adjusted without necessitating their removal from the frame.

With these and other objects in view such as will appear as my description progresses my invention comprises the combination and arrangement of parts set forth in and falling within the scope of the appended claims.

In the drawing, Figure 1 is an end elevation of a stove constructed in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is a side elevation thereof. Fig. 3 is a vertical sectional view showing the positions of the several parts and the manner in which the burners are supported. Fig. 4 is an enlarged elevation of one of the burners. Fig.6 is a vertical sectional view thereof, and Fig. 6 is a detail showing the manner in which the frame of the stove is folded.

In the drawings I have illustrated a frame which consists of two end pieces. Each of these pieces includes a pair of legs 1 which are pivoted together at 2. The pivot of the leg is a rod 3 which extends from one end piece to the other. Mounted pivotally on a similar rod at at the upper Specification of Letters Patent.

end of one of the legs of each end piece is a bar 5 which is provided with a plurality of notches 6, the notches being adapted to engage a rod 7 which extends between the upper ends of the other legs of the end pieces. Extending between the bars 5 of the end pieces is a plurality of rods 8 which cooperate with the rods 4 and 7 to form the top of the stove. Extending between the legs of the end pieces of the frame are additional rods 9 which when the frame is in its operative or working position lie above the rod 2 and to the sides thereof.

Removably mounted on the rod 2 and maintained in place by the rods 9 is a plurality of burners. Each of these burners includes a receptacle 10 which is provided adjacent its upper end with a plurality of apertures 11 and has a clip 12 secured to the bottom thereof, the clip being of inverted U shape. Rotatably and removably mounted on the receptacle 10 is a cover 13 which is provided with a plurality of apertures 14: adapted to register with the apertures 11 in the receptacle 10. This cover is provided with a handle 15 and with a burner tip 16. This burner tip is provided with a. cover 17 having a handle 18 by means of which the flame from the burner may be eX- tinguished. The clamping members 12, when the burners are supported on the rod 2 will straddle the rod and consequently will permit the operator to turn the cover 13 without turning the receptacle 10 so that the amount of air admitted to the burner may be varied.

As clearly illustrated in the drawings when the burners are supported by the rod 2 they will be held in place by the rods 9 and will be prevented from turning by the clamping members 12. When it is desired to collapse the frame for the purpose of packing or transportation it is only necessary to remove the burners and to thence lift the top of the frame which includes the of construction without departing from the spirit of the invention or exceeding the scope of the claims. 1

What I claim is 1. In a portable and collapsible stove the combination with a pair of end pieces including legs permanently pivoted together,

and a top pivoted to one leg of each end pieces, of a top pivoted to one leg of each end piece, a rod extending between the other legs of the end pieces with which rod the top is detachably engaged, rods extending between the corresponding legs of the end pieces above and out of vertical alinement with the pivot rod of the legs, and burners supported by the pivot rod and maintained in place by the last mentioned rods.
