IMPROVEMENT IN BULLETIN-BOARDS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 121,347, dated November 28, 1871.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ANDREW M. ERNSBERGER, of Danville, in the county of Vermilion and State of Illinois, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Bulletin-Boards; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawing making a part of this specification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.
, Figure 1 of the drawing is a representation of a fi-ont elevation of my invention. Fig. 2 is a vertical transverse section of the same, and Fig. 3 is a vertical transverse section, showing the hinged plates E and latches F when opened.
This invention has relation to an improvement in bulletin-boards and consists in the construction and novel arrangement of a frame containing a number of movable sign-boards having hinged lips to hold the letters and latches to secure them in place, as hereinafter described.
Referring to the drawing, A represents a frame constructed with the double or grooved end on center battens B. 0 represents a number of boards having ears or projections c at their ends to fit into corresponding recesses in the battens B, and capable of being taken out and replaced for convenience in affixing, the letters or design describing the information to be conveyed. D represents grooved cleats, on which the advertising or notice card is placed; and E represents hinged plates to keep it in position. F represents pivoted latches, which look the hinged plates to their proper places.
I claim as my invention- The frame A, holding the movable boards 0, grooved cleats D, hinged plates E, and latches F, or equivalents, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
