IMPROVEMENT IN SHOEMA'KERS PINCERS.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ARTHUR CLARKE, of Boston, in the county of Suifolk and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in connection with Shoemakers7 Lasting Pincers, of which the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, is a full and complete specification:

is the lower handle, constructed as usual. e and f are the upper andlower jaws, respectively,

constructed as usual. h is that portion of the upper jaw which is serrated in substantially the same manner as the surface b.

Many Workmen prefer to strike with the upper jaw rather than turn the pincers over and strike With the hammer a. The serration h is to accommodate thislarge class of workmen.

I do not confine myself to the exact location of the serration h shown in the drawing, but propose, to place it in the most convenient part of the convex side of the upper jaw, which will be found by experience.

I do not claim as my invention any portion of the hammer c; neither do I claim anything new in connection with the handles c d.

What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

The combination of the serration l1, with .the upper jaw e, as and for the purpose hereinbefore set forth.
