Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 23, 1916.
Application filed September 5, 1914. Serial No. 860,432.
To all whom it may concern: 7
Be it known that I, THOMAS O. WEIL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Nazareth, in the county of Northampton and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Mold, of which the following is a specification.
This invention aims to provide a novel closure for the core of a burial-case mold, and to provide novel means whereby coffinsupporting ribs may be fashioned in a burial case.
In the drawings: Figure 1 is a longitudinal section; Fig. 2 is a cross section; Fig. 3 is a top-plan of the core-closure; Fig. 1 is a bottom plan showing one of the parts of the closure.
In the drawings there is shown a pallet 1 on which rests a collapsible casing 2. Supported by the pallet 1 and disposed within the collapsible casing 2 is a collapsible core 3. A closure for the core 3 is provided, the same including a plurality of abutting, independently-removable sections 4, the adjacent transverse edges 5 of which are beveled inwardly and downwardly to fashion grooves in which are formed upstanding ribs 6 on the bottom of a burial case 7 The construction above indicated also facilitates the removal of the sections 1 from the burial case 7. Each section of the closure comprises two parts 8, the inner edges 9 of which extend at right angles to the grooves above mentioned, and are beveled transversely of the closure, and are overlapped. A locking means unites the parts 8 of the 4, this locking means incopies of this patent may be obtained for eluding a latch 10 pivoted at 11 on one of the parts 8, and oppositely projecting angular keepers 12 on the parts 8, with which keepers the latch 10 is adapted to coact. Cleats 14 on the parts 8 of the closure sections cooperate with the core 3 to prevent the closure from shifting.
I Owing to the construction above described, the closure for the core 3 may be removed readily from be fashioned without difliculty.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is In a device of the class described, a pallet; a casing supported on thepallet; a core supported on the pallet and lying within the casing; a closure for the core, the closure comprising a plurality of abutting, independently removable sections, the adjacent transverse edges of which are beveled inwardly and downwardly to fashion rib forming grooves and to facilitate the removal of the sections from the finished product, each-section of the closure com prising two parts, the inner edges of which extend at right angles to the grooves and are beveled transversely of the closure and are overlapped; and a locking means uniting the parts of the respective sections.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own, I have hereto aflixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
THOMAS O. WEIL.
