In said prior amilicalion a ho): is made by assembling a box head and a box flange in predetermined position, folding the flange around the head pasting the ends of the flange together, and pasting an extension of the flange to the bottom of the head to secure the head and flange together. The blanks or box heads B delivered to the former are preferably rectangular in shape and composed of paper, pasteboard, etc., as set forth in the pri r application, and are supplied from a stac contained in an upright magazine which is arranged in the upper front part of the machine and which preferably consist of two upright side walls 193 adapted to engage with opposite side edges of the heads, a pair of upright inner flanges or shoulders 194 arranged on the rear ends of the side walls and adapted to engage with the front edges of the box heads, and two upright inner shoulders 195 at the front ends of the side walls which are adapted to engage with the rear edges of the box beans, and a bottom 196 which extends across the lower end of the magazine and supports the stack of heads therein. The heads are feed or removed successivel from the bottom of the stack, in a predetermined path, or plane by means of a delivery device which preferably consists of a horizontally and longi tudinally-reciprocating plunger or follower composed of two sections 197 which are arranged side by side and guided in grooves 198 in the upper side of the magazine bottom, each section being provided with a rearwardly-facing shoulder 199 at its rear end and a cross piece 200 connected with the front ends of the plunger sections. In its retracted position, the plunger is arranged with its shoulders in front of the stack of heads in the magazine and upon moving the same rearward, these shoulders engage with the rear edge of the lowermost head in the magazine and push the same rearwardly from the bottom of the stack and out through an opening or throat which is formed at the lower rear end of the magazine and which is of such height that it permits only one head at a time to be ejected rearwardly from the magazine. After the plunger or follower has thus removed the lowermost head from the stack, it is returned to its foremost position with its shoulders in permitting the latter to pivoted on the adjacent part of the frame and having an upper arm which is connected by a link 2203 with a horizontally and longitudinally sliding bar 204 connected with the follower crosspiece, and a rotatable cam 205 engagingwith the lower arm of the lever 202. The cam 205 is secured to the shaft 206 which is iournaled in bearings on the adjacent part of the frame and is driven through a chain wheel 209 secured thereto, On account of the spring means for effecting the discharging movement of the follower, the feed of the blanks from the magazine is in a yielding manner, such yielding favorably qualifying any tendency to crush or bend the blanks, and substantially avoioing fracture of the machine should any obstruction or foreign object he accidentally presented to the mechanism.
As the box heads are discharged successively from the under side of the stack in the magazine, they are carried one at a time rearwardly, downwardly, forwardly and upwardly in a circular path and each assembled with a flange strip and binder strip, as hereinbefore explained. Each of the formers is carried into a position in rear of the head magazine at the same time that a box headis being discharged from the mags.- zine, whereby this head is delivered on top of the respective former which at this time has its face arranged uppermost. Immediately after the head has been thus delivered upon the former from the magazine, the air grooves of the former and its respective branch passage are connected with the air.

ii. in a device of the character described, in combination. a base, parallel grooves therein. straight guide vvalls projecting them-tron! on opposite sides of said grooves, a cross-pie e. parallel blank supporting plunger sections cue ging said. grooves and tablv connected to said cross-piece, a rcriprocatorv rod guided on said base and connected to said cross piece, a spring conne ted in said cross-piece and adapted to move the same to move said plunger sections in the direction to deliver blanks from between id guide walls, a cam, and oporatiw: devices between said cam and said rod, whereby motion is positively communicated to said rod to move said plunger sections in the opposite direction.
7. in a device of the character described, in mmbination, yielding means adapted to feed a blank in a predetermined path, means providing an opening for the passage of the icv blank adjacent said path, and yielding means adapted to deflect said blank into said opening.
8. In a device of the character described, in combination. means adapted to move a blank in a predetermined path, means providing an opening fcr the passage of the fed blank adjacent said path, a roller arranged to deflect said blank toward said opening, and resilient means adapted to restrain movement of said roller from said opening.
9. In a device of the character described, in combination, yielding means adapted to feed a blank in a predetermined plane, and yielding means intersecting said plane arranged to deflect said blank away from said plane while being fed.
10. In a device of the character described, in combination, means adapted to move a blank in a predetermined path, a deflector comprising a rotatable member normally disposed to intersect said path, and means adapted to yieldingly resist movement of said deflector from said normal position.

In a device of the character described, in combination. means adapted to move a blank in a predetermined path, a deflector comprising a rotatable member normally disposed to intersect said path, spring means adapted to yieldingly resist movement of said deflector from said normal position, and stop means adapted to limit the movement of said member by said spring.

In a device of the character described, in combination, yielding means adapted to move a blank in a predetermined path, a deflector comprising a rotatable member normally disposed to intersect said path and to be contacted by said blank While being fed. and spring means adapted to yieldinglv resist movement of said deflector from said normal position.
13. In a device of the character described, in combination, yielding means adapted to move ablank in a predetermined path, a deflector comprising a rotatable member normally disposed to intersect said path and to be contacted by said blank While being fed, spring means adapted to yieldingly resist movement of said deflector from said normal position, and stop means adapted to limit the movement of said member by said spring.
