Be it known that I, Josnrn J. TAGLIN, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of Chester, in the county of Del- 5 aware and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Tables, of which the following is a specification.
. My invention relates to improvements in tables and more particularly to improvements in adjustable elevating tables such as are used in printing establishments for transferring forms, and the object of my invention is to furnish a table the top of which can be rapidly and easily raised or lowered so as to be in the most convenient position for one man to transfer a form from another table to it. or from it to another table, and which will be in all positions of elevation perfectly stable and rigid.
It is desirable in order to easily transfer a form or other heavy article from one table to another that the table to which the article is transferred be slightly lower than the one from which it is transferred, or at least that it be not higher, and while non-adjustable tables can be made to initially fulfil this condition irregularities in floors not infrequently change their heights and make an adjustable table very useful.
My adjustable table is, preferably, carried upon casters or rollers so that it can be easily moved about, is very strong and simple in construction and is inexpensive to manufacture.
In the accompanying drawings forming part of this specification, and in which similar letters of reference indicate similar parts throughout the several views: Figure 1, is a side elevation of my adjustable elevating table in its lowered position: Fig. 2, a similar view showing top partly elevated: Fig. 3, a plan of the lower side of the table top: Fig. 4, a plan of the top of the rotatable plate carrying supports for the top: Fig. 5, a plan of the lower side of the plate shown in Fig. 4: Fig. 6, a plan of the top of the main frame of table showing Cllt ular track and stop for limiting movement of the rotatable plate.
The under side of the top 10 of the table is furnished with circularly disposed cams 11, in the drawings four cams are shown,

and with posts 12 which pass through the top 13 of the main frame to prevent the top from turning. Passing through the top 13 of the main frame is a shaft 1 1 which is secured to a plate 15 the top of which carries supports 16 upon the tops of which rest the cams 11 carried by the top 10. The under side of this plate is supported by the top 13 of the main frame which is, in the present instance, furnished with a circularly disposed track or flange 17 upon which rest lugs 18 carried by under side of plate 15. 19 is a wheel, or some other convenient means, for turning shaft 14.
20 are the table legs which may be furnished with casters or rollers 21.
To elevate the top of the table the shaft 14 is turned to the right turning the plate 15 the supports 16 of which passing down the faces of the cams 11 raise them and the top 10 which is prevented from turning by the posts or guides 12 which pass through holes 22, Fig. 6, in the top 13 of the main frame. To lower the top the shaft 14 is turned to the left causing the supports 16 to move up the faces of the cams 11, the weight of the table top maintaining a contact between these parts. The movement of the rotatable plate 15 is limited in one direction by the side of a support 16 engaging the deep end of one of the cams 11 as shown in Fig. 1, in the other direction by a stationary stop 23 on the top of main frame 13 Fig. 6, engaging a stop 24, Fig. 5, on the lower side of rotatable plate '15.
My table top can by the means described be very quickly adjusted as to height and being supported at points well out from its center is very stable. My adjusting means are very simple and inexpensive and require very little machine work in their construction.
Having thus described my invention I claim as new and desireto secure by Letters Patent y In an adjustable elevating table, in combination, a main frame comprising a stationary top and legs, a circularly disposed track carried by the upper side of said top. a rotatable plate the under side of which is furnished with lugs resting upon said track, supports with inclined tops carried by the upper side of said rotatable plate, a shaft passing through said stationary top and through the stationary top carried by the centrally secured to said plate, a hand whgizl legs.
