en a e I Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Mar. 21, 1916.
7 Application filed September 21, 1914. Serial No. 862,856.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JAKOB VELCANSlKY, a subject of the King of Hungary, residing at Irwin, in the county of Westmoreland and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Noodle-Cutters, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
This invention relates to noodle cutters and has for its object to provide a device of such class, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, including a cutter holder having provisions to permit of adjustably positioning a series of cutters with respect to each other thereby enabling noodles of different widths to be cut.
Further objects of the invention are to provide a noodle cutter which is simple in its construction and arrangement, strong, durable, etficient and convenient in its use, readily set up and comparatively inexpensive to manufacture.
\Vith the foregoing and other objects in view the invention consists of a novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts as hereinafter more specifically. described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings wherein is shown an embodiment of the invention, but it is to be understood that changes, variations and modifications can be resorted to which come within the scope of the claims hereunto appended.
In the drawings wherein like reference characters denote corresponding parts throughout the several views :-Figure 1 is a perspective view of a noodle cutter in accordance with this invention. Fig. 2 is a perspective view, broken away, illustrating the cutter holder open and free of cutters. Fig. 3 is a perspective view of a cutter. Fig. 4 is a detail of the holder.
Referring to the drawings in detail a noodle cutter consists of a holder comprising a body portion 1 formed with a compartment 2 which is wedge-shaped in cross section. Pivoted to the body portion as at 3 is a closure 4 for the compartment 2 and said closure 4 has its free end formed with a notch 5, to receive the resilient'latch 6,
which is fixed as at 7 to one end of the body portion 1.
The front of the body portion is rounded as at 8 and is formed with a series of openings 9, which communicate with the compartment 2 and which are wedge shaped in contour. Extending through the compartment 2 and openings 9, are wedge-shaped cutters l0'which are maintained in position through the medium of the closure 4 when the latter is swung to engagement'with the latch- 6. The openings 9 provide means to enable the positioning of the cutters 10 at difi'erent distances apart with respect to each other, under such conditions provision is made for cutting noodles of difi'erent widths.
In setting up of the handle in a manner as stated provides for the convenient removal of a cutter when the occasion so requires or for substituting a new cutter for a damaged one.
Secured to the back 11 is a handle 12.
WVhat I claim is 1. A noodle-cutter comprising a body- .portion having a plurality of spaced cutterof a cutter holder,
receiving apertures therein, a plurality of cutters adapted to be removably inserted in said apertures, whereby the spaced relation of said cutters may be varied to vary the width of the strips cut, and a member hinged to said body-portion and abutting against the bases of said cutters for maintaining said cutters in position in said a pertures.
2. A noodle cutter comprising a plurality of wedge-shaped cutters, a body portion having a plurality of spaced cutter receiving apertures therein, said apertures being of corresponding shape to said cutters, a member hinged to said body portion and abutting against the bases of said cutters for maintaining said cutters in position in said apertures, and a spring catch for retaining said member in its abutting position, whereby the spaced relation of said cutters may be varied to vary the width of the strips cut.
3. A noodle-cutter comprising a plurality of Wedge-shaped cutters, a three-sided body having a plurality of spaced cutterreceiving apertures in one of the sides thereof, said apertures being of corresponding shape to said cutters, a handle on another third side of said body and arranged to abut against the bases of said cutters, and'a" spring catch for retalnlng sald memberin Gopies of this patent may be obtained for five e'nts eaten, by addressing the "Commissioner oi Patents,
its abutting position, whereby the spaeed 'i I relation of said cutters may be varied'tovaryrthe width of the strips cut. 7
V In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in the presence of two Witnesses. 1 side of said body, a member hinged tofthe w JAKOB VEL'CANSKY.
