Description
H. B. YOUNG. CONTAINER FOR SAFETY RAZOR BLADES.
APPLICATION FILED 056.14, 1914.
Patented Jan. 11,1916.
COLUMBIA PLANOGRAPH cm, WASHINGTON, D. c.
HARRY BENTON YOUNG, OE CINCINNATI, OHIO.
CONTAINER FOR SAFETY-RAZOR BLADES.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Jan. iii, 19165.
Application filed. December 14, 1914. Serial No. 877,140.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, HARRY BENTON YOUNG, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Cincinnati, in the county of Hamilton and State of Ohio, have invented new and useful Improvements in Containers for Safety-Razor Blades, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to containers for safety razor blades.
The object of my invention is to produce a container of said character in which a plurality of the blades of safety razors may be carried in position to prevent the contact of their cutting edges with any object.
Another object thereof is to produce a safety razor blade container into which the blades may be readily inserted and conven iently removed therefrom, and which may be easily opened and closed for use; and a still further object of my invention is to produce a more simple, cheap and efficient article of said character than has heretofore been attained.
To these ends, my invention includes the combination and arrangement of component parts to be hereinafter described and more particularly pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings, in which like reference characters indicate similar parts, Figure 1 is a perspective view of the preferred form of my container in closed position; Fig. 2 is a similar view thereof in open position; Fig. 3 is a perspective view of a modified form of my invention, and Fig. 4L is a detail view thereof.
In the preferred form, my container comprises a sheet of metal bent to form the base plate 1, the cover plate 2, and the back 8. The base 1 is provided with a plurality of inwardly projecting posts 4 and 5, spaced apart a sufiicient distance to correspond with the orifices that occur in safety razor blades of ordinary design; while the cover plate 2 is provided with orifices 6 and 7 registering with said posts.
As shown in the drawings the inner post 4 is straight and the corresponding orifice 6 is substantially circular, while the outer post 5 is provided with a head 8 and its corresponding orifice 7 is segmental in shape the straight edge of which is adapted to be engaged by the head 8 to hold the cover in closed position.
As shown in Figs. 1 and 2 of the drawings, the base plate 1 may be bent back on itself at its free end 9 to form the base of a similar companion container or compartment to double the capacity of the case and to provide separate compartments for sharp and dull blades.
It will be obvious that safety razor blades of ordinary form may be readily inserted in my container and held therein on the posts 4: and 5, and that the edges thereof will be protected from contact and injury by the projecting edges of the plates.
In the modified form of my invention, shown in Figs. 3 and a of the drawings, the case comprises upper and lower plates 10 and 11, in each of which is formed a pair of nibs 12 spaced apart to correspond with the orifices in safety razor blades. The nibs on both plates are adapted to project through the orifices in the blades and bear against the face of the opposite plate, thus holding the blades between the faces of the plates and their projecting edges.
The construction and operation of my container will be readily understood from the foregoing description and by reference to the accompanying drawing, and it will be appreciated that the parts and combinations thereof may be varied widely within the terms of the claims without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to be secured by Letters Patent, is-
1. A container for razor blades comprising a sheet of metal or like material bent to form a base and a cover portion, said base portion being bent back upon itself to form the base of a twin holder having a similar cover plate, said base portion having projecting posts to project through the perforations in perforated razor blades, and said cover portions having perforations registering with said posts, and means for locking said covers in closed positions, substantially as described.
2. A container for safety razor blades comprising a base plate, and a perforated cover adapted to project through a perforation in plate movably secured at one end thereof, a the cover plate and secure same in closed plurality of posts carried on the inner face position, substantially as described.
of the base plate, one of Which is provided HARRY BENTON YOUNG. 5 with a fixed locking head, adapted to pro- Witnesses:
ject through the perforations in perforated M. NEFF,
razor blades, and said locking head being R. H. YOUNG.
