Be it known that I, Gnonen A. BROWN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cleveland, in the county of Cuyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Receptacle- Holders, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates generally to receptacle holders and particularly to that class of such devices utilized for holding milk bottles. N

More specifically the invention relates to a box adapted to be applied to the jamb of a door, and it consists of a suitable casing having an open back and provided with an inwardly extending flange near the front, and suitable end guides near the bottom, these parts cooperating with a door having a bottle support extending inward therefrom and provided with a bottle receiving tubular portion, and suitable stops arranged between the parts for permitting it to move outward for receiving the bottle and to guide its inward movement so as to permit the bottle when inserted to drop behind the flange of the front and lock the door of the receptacle.

The invention may be further briefly summarized as consisting in the construction and combination of parts hereinafter set forth in the following description, drawings and claims.

Referring to the drawings, Figure 1 is a front elevation with parts broken away;

i Fig. 2 is a horizontal section; Fig. 3 is a vertical section with the door in its open position; and Fig. 4 is a similar section with the parts in place.

In carrying out the invention any preferred form and construction of parts may be employed so long as they meet the necessary requirements, but I have shown one arrangement, which is effective, and in such embodiment 1 represents the casing or jamb of a door 2. The device is applied to the jamb and it consists of a casing having a top 3 and bottom 1 and sides 5 and 6, the latter being secured to the casing or jamb 1. At the back the several parts already referred to are provided with inwardly extending flanges 7 for stiffening them. At the front the top is provided with a flange 8, the sides 5 and 6 with flanges 9 and 10 respectively, and the bottom with a flange 11.

" Each side near the bottom is provided with an inwardly extending ledge 12 formed from a bent piece of metal secured to the sides and bottom. These ledges extend from the inner wall of the flange 11 to the back of the casing. Each of the sides 5 and 6 is provided with a pair of pins 13 and 14:, the latter being arranged near the back of the box and the former within the side flange, both pins being at a distance above the corresponding ledge 12. Engaging onthe outside of the flanges 8, 9, 10 and 11 is a door 15 having a suitable handle 16 and secured to this door and extending inward so as to pass above the flange 11 is a flat horizontally disposed bottle guide member 17 equal in depth to the distance fro-mthe flange 11 to the back of the box and as wide as the box. The guide member is braced to the door by suitable end bracesl8 within the ends of the guide member, as shown in Fig. 2, so that the braces will slide inside of the flanges 9 and 10, and the projecting portion will extend to the sides of the box, as shown in the broken away portion in Fig. 1, and this extension being adapted to pass over the ledges 12, the flanges 9 and 10 being cut away to permit such operation. Near the back edge of these extensions of the guide member are suitable extensions or bosses 19 which when the door is in place engage under the pins 14:, as shown in Fig. 1, and serve to prevent the swinging of the door and the guide member when closed. The guide member is provided with a tubular extension or bottle guide 20 which opens out through the guide and serves to receive the bottle when the door is open and to permit the bottle to rest upon the flange 11, as shown in Fig. 3, the door being limited in its outward movement by a pin 21 extending down from the bottom of the guide and engaging the inside of the flange 11, and the tilting movement of the door being limited by the pins 13 engaging above the extensions of the guiding member. In use, assuming that there is no bottle in the holder and that the door is closed, as shown in Fig. 1, the door is slid outward until the pin 21 engages the inner face of the flange 11 when the door and the guiding member will tilt in the position shown in Fig. 3 until the guiding member engages under the pins 13 as shown in this figure. Then the bottle may be placed therein and when so placed it will rest upon the upper edge of the flange 11. The door may then be pushed closed, the first movement of closing causing the swinging of the door in a vertical position and the last movement being one of moving the entire door and bottle guide back until the lugs 19 engage under the pins 14. In the meantime, however, the bottle has dropped oif of the upper edge of the flange 11 onto the bottom of the box, when the door of the flange 11 before the pin 14 moves off of the lug l9.

Having described my invention, I claim I I 1. A bottle holder comprising a casing, a

flange extending upward from the bottom of said easing, a door movable into and out of said casing, a bottle guiding member extending inward from said door and having a bottle guide adapted to permit the bottle to pass through the same, and means for guiding and limiting the movement of the door and the bottle guiding member whereby when the door is opened, the bottle may pass through the guiding member and engage the flange and when the door is closed will pass down behind the flange.

2. A bottle holder comprising a casing, a flange extending upward from the bottom of the casing near the front thereof, ledges extending from said flange along the ends of the box to the back thereof, a door movable into and out of the casing, a bottle receiving member, a bottle guide carried thereby open at the top and bottom to permit the passage of the bottle therethrough, means for limiting the outward movement of the door and the tilting thereof whereby the bottle will rest on the flange when the door is open, and means for engaging the guiding member and preventing the tilting thereof when the door is closed.
