To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, EUGEN FINAZZER, a subject of the Emperor of Austriall ungary, residing at Pieve-Buchenstein, in the Empire of Austriall ungary, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in F as tening Devices for Ladies Hats, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to improvements in fastening devices for ladies hats described and shown in my prior application Serial Number 794,402.

According to this invention the hooks are arranged in pairs, one hook of each pair being fixed in the sleeve, the other hook of the same pair being fixed to a spring influenced rod movably mounted in said sleeve so that the hooks approach each other and clamp in the hair if the rod is pushed inward.

"With this and other objects in view the invention consists in the particular construction and arrangement of parts as hereinafter described and shown in drawings by way of example.-

Figure l is a longitudinal section of the lmproved fastening device for ladies hats. Fig. 2 is a section on line T-T of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a side elevation of the fastening device.

Hooks e are fixed on the sleeve 6 which is acted upon by the spring a. The sleeve is movably mounted on a rod fixed by means of a disk 0 inside the hat. In the sleeve 6 a rod f is arranged and between the inner end of this rod 7 and a disk it a spiral spring 9 is located. A ringshaped projection z in sleeve Z) serves as abutment for the disk it and for the inner enlarged end of the shaft of disk 0. The rod f carries hooks 6 projecting through longitudinal slots 70 of the sleeve. Into the open end of the sleeve Z) a pin a is pushed which is provided with a large head. This pin a has a longitudinal cavity in which a blade spring 79 with a projection 0 is located. This projection o of the blade spring is designed to engage with one of the openings 9, g of the sleeve Z2.

The fastening device operates as follows:

f the pin a is pushed into the sleeve 6 the projection 0 of the blade spring 72 engages with the opening 9 of the sleeve Z) and said sleeve can now be turned by means of the large head of said pin so that end hooks e the accompanying V and Z penetrate into the hair. If now the lade spring (Z is depressed and the pin pushed farther into the sleeve Z) the rod 7 is pushed to the left against the action of the spiral spring 9 whereby the hooks Z are moved toward the hooks e and the hair is clamped in between said two hooks. The different parts are secured in their position by the projection 0 engaging with the second opening 9 of the sleeve 1).

e device can further be used in another manner as follows: The thin end is directly pushed into the sleeve 6 so that the projection 0 of the blade spring 79 engages with the opening 9 so that the hooks e and Z are pushed against one another and penetrate together into the hair when the sleeve 5 is being turned. If the pin a is pulled out of the sleeve so that the projection 0 engages with the opening 9 the rod f is pushed back through the action of the spring 9 so that the hooks Z move away from the hooks e. If in this position of the device the sleeve 6 is further turned and pushed to the left against the action of the spring a the hooks grip again other strains of hair whereby the hat is securely fixed on the head.

I claim An improved fastening device for ladies hats comprising in combination a sleeve adapted to be arranged inside the hair, said sleeve having a longitudinal slot and a notch at the outer end, a hook fixed on the sleeve at the inner end of said mounted in said sleeve, a hook fixed to said rod and projecting through said slot, a projection in said sleeve, a spiral spring inclosed between said projection and the inner end of said movable rod, a pin adapted to be movably mounted in the hat wall opposite the end of said sleeve and having a longitudinal cavity, a blade spring mounted in said cavity of the pin, and a projection on the blade spring, said projection adapted to engage with the notch of the sleeve when said pin is pushed in, substantially as described and shown and for the purpose set forth.
