IBERYL FENCE, OF MOORMANS RIVER, VIRGINIA.
ROLLING-HOOP.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. 24:, 1915.
Application filed September 8, 1913. Serial No. 788,778.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Mrs. BERYL FENCE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Moorrnans River, in the county of Albemarle and State of Virginia, have invented a new and novel Rolling-Hoop, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in rolling hoops, the object being the provision of a hoop of inexpensive construction which will sound bells as it rolls over the ground and of means for rolling and guiding the hoop.
To attain this object, my invention consists of a hoop carrying a series of bells and of a handle having hooks of novel construction to engage the hoop and guide it.
Figure 1 is a side elevation of the hoop, and Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the novel form of handle used with my hoop.
The hoop A, is provided upon its inner face with a series of rigidly afiiXed bells or chimes B, in connection with which I use the. handle 0, having a flat outer end D, to rest flush against the fiat outer face of the hoop, said flat face being provided with the pair of oppositely disposed hooks E, which are arranged out of line and grip the rim of the hoop, keeping the hoop straight and preventing it from slipping.
The handle with flat end to rest against the outer face of the hoop and the hooks out of line, and oppositely disposed to grip the hoop and hold the fiat end of the handle to guide and hold the hoop constitutes the gist of my invention, and the new and most important features.
I claim:
The hoop stick herein described, consisting of a handlehaving the fiat face adapted to rest upon the flat face of the hoop and the hooks projecting from said flat face to grip the hoop, and arranged out of line and curved in opposite directions.
