To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, GEORGE W. SHEPPARD, a subject of the King of Great Britain, residing at Toronto, in the county of. York, in the Province of 01113211'10,'DOII11I11011 of Canada, have invented new and useful Im- 1s removedfrom the cas ting'l and placed provements in Primers, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a primer and has as its principal object theprovision of a de vice which may be used for facilitating the starting of gas or explosion engines during cold weather.
A further object of my invention resides in the particular combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter described.
-In the accompanying drawings :Figure l is a perspective view of a device embody ing my invention, parts being broken away. Fig. 2 is a central sectional view of the device shown in Fig. 1, but omitted from Fig. 2. Fig. 3 is a detail view in perspective of the parts shown in Fig. 1.

Referring more particularly to the drawings, 1 is a hollow base or body casting on top of which is set a heavy casting 2, the casting 2 being removable at will-by means of an eye bolt 12. The top portion of the casting 1 has a central aperture over which is a spider such as 15 which is provided with a plurality of radial apertures such as 6 opening into the interior of the casting 2. Within the casting 2 and mounted on top of the spider 15 is a reservoir 3 within which is a partition 4 of gauze wire inclosing an interior chamber, the inner chamber being covered by a removable top 5. Leading from the bottom of the inner chamber just mentioned to the top of the spider 15 is a pipe 7 which passes downwardly through the casting 1 and, as shown in Fig. 1, carries at its lower end a T 13. Connected to the T 13 are two cocks or taps 14 and 17, the tap 14: being connected to the gasolene supply at the carbureter while the tap 17 leads to the atmosphere.
Connected to the interior of the casting 1 is a short nipple 16 carried on which is an elbow 9 and contacting with the elbow 9 is a second elbow 8, the end of which removed from the elbow 9 is closed by a cap 10 which carries a plurality of nozzles 11. engine is then cranked and at the same time the tap 17 is-opened so that air is drawn through the pipe 7, the water and gasolene, in the reservoir and against the sides of the casting 2. The hot carbureted air is then drawn. through the casting l, the elbows 8 and 9, the nozzles 11 and into the air inlet of the carbureter. It will be understood that water is used in the reservoir 3 in order to prevent an explosion.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is 1. A device for starting gas engines com prising in combinatioma heat accumulator, a fuel reservoir, means for leading air through the fuel reservoir and into contact with said accumulator, and means for leading the heated carbureted air through the engine, said means comprising at least one nozzle adapted to project into the carbureter inlet and a pivotally mounted elbow on which said nozzle is carried.
2. A priming device for explosion motors comprising in combination, a hollow base casting having a central aperture therein, a spider mounted above said aperture, and a removable heat accumulator adapted to be placed so as to cover said spider.
