Description
WILLIAM G; RILEY.
7 Improvement in Trace-Buckles.- No. 114,201. I Patented Ap riI25,187I.
W V QnZg All. Mow-umasMm/c m flex MESS-j deified fitters WILLIAM G. RILEY, OF SULLIVAN, INDIANA.
Letters Patent No. 114,201, dated April 25, 1871.
IMPROVEMENT lN TRACE-BUCKLES.
The Schedule referred to in these Letter-l Patent and making part of the saine.
' in Adjustable Trace-Loops; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being bad to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon which form apart of this specification.
The. nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of an adjustable trace-loop for short-tug harness, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order, to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, in which Figure 1 is a view of the loop, with the trace and back-band inserted; and
Figure 2, a perspective of the loop itself.
This loop is made of cast-iron, and composed of a rectangular frame, A, with a loop, B, in the center of the rear side, and a cross-bar, O, crossing the frame in the center.
On the outer side of the frame A are formed two loops, D D, connected by a cross-bar, E, which runs parallel with the cross-bar O.
G is the'hame-tug, which is passed through the loops D D, as shown, and the back-band H is then passed under one of the ends of the frame A, over the cross-bar O, and then through or under the other end of the frame.
A headed screw is then passed through holes in the back-band, cross-bar O, washer a, and the hametug, and screwed into the cross-bar E. By this means the hame-tug on a short straight-tug harness may be readily lengthened and shortened at will.
Having thus fully described my invention,
What I claim asnew, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The within-described trace-loop, consisting of the frame A, loops B D D, and cross-bars OE, construct ed and arranged as described, and used in connection with the screw I and washer a, substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as'my own I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
WILLIAM G. RILEY. Witnesses:
SAMSON SHALTER, CRAVEN REED.
