T0 all whom it may concern l Be it known that I, THOMAS O. SCHRADER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Allentown, in the county of Lehigh and State of Pennsylvania, h ave invented certain new and useful Improvements in 'Toy Cap-Pistols, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to a toy cap-pistol; and in such connection it relates to the particilar shape and arrangement of the hammer in conjunction with the particular type of slidable trigger operating in range of a leaf spring, positioned in connection with the hammer and a corner of the hand-hold, of the pistol and in the path of the trigger, when operated to uncock said hammer to fire the cap, the said trigger having rear arms of diiferent lengths, one whereof engages the said spring `in one position of the said hammer to readily uncock the same by a slight manual pressure exerted and the said trigger limited n the extent of its movement in one direction by one portion thereof engaging an offset of the barrel or stock of the pistol.

The nature and characteristic features of my present invention will be more fully understood from the following description taken' in connection with the accompanying drawings forming part hereof, in which- Figure 1, is a longitudinal central sectional view through the toy cap-pistol, embodying the essential features of my said invention, showing the hammer cocked and the bowed positionk of the leaf spring in such condition of the toy-pistol. Fig. 2, is a side elevational view of the pistol and the uncocked position of the hammer, and in dotted outline. the condition of the leaf-spring in such position thereof; and Figs. 3 and 4, are respectively end views of the said pistol.

Referring to the drawings a, is the barrel or stock of the pistol of a kind that has become known as the scout-type, with a rear depending hand-hold a1. With reference to Fig. 1', a?, is the hammer, the head as, of which is adapted to strike the end face a, of the barrel or stock a, as shown in Fig. 1, for discharging the paper or other cap against the same to be fired by the said hammer. The hammer a2, has a perforated bodya,

and is fitted to a pin b, and it is also provided with a notched extremity as, to engage one end of a leaf-spring c, and extending slantingly therefrom to a stop d, formed by the left hand corner of the hand-hold al. The trigger e, is arranged to slide in a way e1, provided in the hand-hold a1, therefor, as

clearly shown in Fig. 1. This trigger has two arms e2 and es, of diiferent lengths, one being adapted to readily engage the leafspring c, above a central point thereof, in the bowed conditionof said spring c, and the cocked position of the hammer a?, for discharging a cap against the face a4, of the pistol barrel or stock to be struck by the said hammer, when the slidable trigger e, is manually pressed inward and against the bowed spring e,"to cause it to assume a slanting inclined position such as shown in dotted outline in Fig. 2, to that it occupies with the hammer in a cocked position, as shown in Fig. 1. The extent or range of forward movement of the trigger e, is limited by-one corner thereof eng-aging an oifset portion a7, of the stock or barrel a, as clearly shown in Fi. s. 1 and 2. l

aving thus described the nature and object of my invention, what I claim as new .and desire to secure by Letters Patent is one end of the casing of said hand-hold and engaged at one corner by the offset in the barrel of said pistol, substantially as and for the purposes described.
