Be it known that I, EDGAR TAYLOR, a citizen of the United States, residing at Yonkers, in the county of lcstchester and State o't` New York, have invented new and'useful Improvements in Brooders, of which the following is a speciication.`
The present invention provides a structure intended chieiiy for keeping the chicks D at a uniform given temperature during the period of brooding, thereby insuring a full brood from a given number ot' fertile eggs.
The invention provides a brooder which ma \V be located in the open with perfect 5 safety as against climatic changes and conditions and which will prevent chilling of the chicks or an overheating thereof, both of which would prove fat-.il to the maturing of the hatching.
o The invention provides a novel form of inclosing structure and peculiar heating means, the latter being oit such formation as to insure a uniform temperature and the consumption of a minimum amount of oil,
5 the heater being iu the nature of a lamp and embodying a boiler for equalizing the temperature in the structure receiving the eggs to be hatched..
The invention consists of the novel features, details of const-ruction and combination of parts, which hereinafter will be more particularly set forth, illustrated in the aecompanying drawings, and pointed out in the appended claim.

A tray 5 is supported within the brooder some distance above the bottom thereof and is designed to serve as a hover. The tray 5 may be constructed o any material and is lined upon its under side with iannel or other textile.
The heating mechanism embodies a lamp 6, which by preference is loca-ted below the bottom of the structure so as to be readily accessible Withoutrequiring the cover of the brooder or the door 3 thereof to be opened. The body of the lamp t3 is surrounded by means of a jacket 7, which is designed to receive a quantity of water, thereby preventing overheating of the lainp. A casing 8 is suspended from the bottom o't` the brooder and receives the lamp 6, said casing being of sheet metal and having an opening 9 in its bottoni for the admission of air, which supports combustion and also assists in prevents ing overheating of the lamp.
