IRONING-BOARD CABINET.
traitera.
To all 'who-m it may concern.'
Be it known that I, PATRICK d. SULLIVAN, a cititen of the United States, residing in the city and county of San Francisco and State 5 of California, have invented certain new and usefulA improvements in llroningldoard Gabinete, oi which the 4lollowing is a specification.
The present invention relates to improve- -m ments in ironing board cabinets, and has for its principal objects to provide an improved form oi mounting for the board, by the ernployment of which the usual hinged strut is dispensed with, and the lower cabinet panel 15 is hinged to swing outwardly and provide a strut and also close the lower end of the cabinet; to construct a device having an im proved. forni of means for locking the board when in itsextended position. 2o With the above mentioned and other obin. view, the invention consists in the novel construction and combination of parts hereinafter described., illustrated in the aoconipanying drawings and pointed out in the as olaiin hereto appended; it being understood that various changes in the form, vproportion, site', and minor details of construction within tlie scope of the claim, may be resorted. to without departing from the spirit line ifi-Le of Fig. l, disclosing the lie lower panel. g more particularly to the drawe, wherein lilie` characters of reference nate corresponding parts throughout everal views, the numeral l indicates a ble wall or artition in which is formed recess or ca inet 2 having the vertical side members 3, and the top and bottom vmembers l and 5. The upper portion of the recess or cabinet is closed by a suitable door or panel 6, hinged as at 7 to one of the side members 3 and adapted to swing on a' vertical axis. 'lhe lower portion of the recess positionsu Fig. 3 is a sectional view iipecication of Letters Patent. i Patintd Fb, 239 1915 Application lcdseptemhcr t, 19M. Berlalto. 863,653.
or cabinet is closed by a suitable door ory panel 8, carrying at its lower side edges the dowel ins 9 which. are received in openings l()y in t et'iont face oli' the side members 3, and said openings are adapted to be closed by the detachableinoldin' or tacingill. By mounting the panel 'or oor 8 as above described, the upper end of the same is capable of swinging outwardly on a horizontal axis.
' Connected by a hingel tothe upper edge vat of the door or panel 8 is asui-table ironing board 13, adapted when in its folded position to swing at its immer endalong the inner face oit the ariel 8 and lie in an up right position init e recess or. cabinet, as in f engage the underside for" the rear end or" the 'lill ironing board M, when in its extended position, and loclr the saine in engagement with the stop member 15. Suitable chains 17 limit the outward swing of the upper end ot vthe lower panel or door 8, and the lower end or" said panel or door, when the upper endis swung outwardly, is adapted to overlie a support 18 which prevents strain being placed on the dowels 9.
A suitable sleeve board 18 is pivotally mounted in the cabinet, as at 19, above the board i3, and the free end of the same is capable of swinging upwardly into the' cabinet or outwardly, as in dotted lines. A. stop 2O limits the outward pivotal inovement of the sleeve board. l lt will be apparent the lower @snel 8 provides a closure for tlie lower portion of the cabinet when the board 13 is in i i folded position therein, and also adords a supporting strut for the board when the same is in use.
Having thus described my invention what ldd cabinet. to swing on e horizontal axis and .for closing the lower portion thereof and capable of swinging outwardly at its upper end, flexible means secured to the sides of said cabinet and/to said panel for limiting the outward movement of the upper end of n seid panel, an ironing board hinged within its length to the upper end of said panel and capable of swinging from e horizontal to an upright position and formed in its upper face adjacent to its inner end with e trans- Verse extending groove, e, substantially i.- shapecl stationary stop 'in said cabinet for
