COMBINED WINDOW-SHADE AND CURTAIN-POLE SUPPORTING BRACKET.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 15, 1914..
Application filed December 3, 1913. Serial No. 804,490.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, ANTHONY S1MLER,a citizen of the United States, residing at Canton, in the county of Stark and State of Ohio, have invented. new and useful Improvements in Combined Window-Shade and Curtain-Pole Supporting Brackets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a combined Window shade and curtain pole supporting bracket; and it has for its primary object the provision of a bracket of this character which will be adjustably mounted upon the casing and provided with means whereby its adjustment may be retained without the provision of permanent fastening devices.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a bracket of this character which may be applied to the casing without marring the finished surface thereof.
of construction, combination and arrange ment of parts, as will be hereinafter described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings: Figure 1 is a perspective view of a portion of a window casing, showing the application of the bracket thereto; .Fig. 2 is a vertical section through the casing, showing the bracket in elevation; and Fig. 3 is a section, taken through a portion of the bracket.
The bracket is constructed preferably of metal provided with a vertical shank 1 terminating at its lower end in branches 2, which are arranged in downwardly converging relation and provided with offset horizontally disposed extensions 3, on which buffer or cushioning heads 4 are fitted and adapted to bear against theadjacent surface of the window frame and to prevent said surface from being marred through engage ment of the bracket therewith. These ofi'set portions also serve to hold the vertical portion 1 spaced from the casing. Immediately above the branches 2, the portion 1 of the bracket is provided with a forwardly extending branch 5 have a recess 6 for re and bifurcated as at ll and provided with I companion gripping devices or spurs 12, which are extended rearwardly, as at 13, and then downwardly at the point 14 where they are provided with relatively sharp points 15, which are arranged in alinement with each other. These points are adapted to engage against the projections 16 of the window casing illustrated in Fig. 1 and under the weight of the supported shade and curtain the points 15 are adapted to penetrate the projection 16 of the frame and to p become sufiiciently embedded therein to war- With these and other ob ects in view, the invention consists of certain novel features rant holding the bracket in the desired adusted position. This construction is such that a plurality of mating brackets such as the one set forth in the foregoing may be readily applied to or removed from the casmg and adjusted relatively so as to accom invention will be readily understood without requiring a more extended explanation.'
Various changes in the form, proportion and the minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the principle or sacrificing any of the advantages of this invention as claimed.
I claim v A window shade and curtain bracket comprising a member having a vertical portion terminating at one end in a pair of diverging branches, buffers mounted on the terminal of each branch and bearing against the forward surface of the top bar of a Window casing, the said member terminating the branches for respectively, supporting the at its upper end in an angular p'ortionrbifurshade and curtain. 10
cated and provided With a plurality of In testimony whereof I afiix my signature curved spurs having terminal points offset in presence of two Witnesses.
from the vertical portion of the member ANTHONY SIMLER. and adapted to' engage against theupper Vvi't'nessesz i edge of the frame, and an extension formed ,VVM REES,
on the member at the point of juncture of v OB I N.
