ADHESIVE-PLA STER BOX.
Application filed February 2, 19,11.
- To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, PERRYS. BAUER, a
citizen of the United States, residing, at
Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Adhesive-Plaster This invention pertains to an adhesive plaster box which isconstructed and adapted to contain a flat roll of adhesive-plaster, the wholepackage being of such size and shape that it can be readily carried in the pocket for use in cases of emergency;
The principal object" of the present inventien is to equip a box of the character indicated with provisions for severing a strip of plaster which has been withdrawn from the box.
Other objects and advantages, however, will be readily apparent from the following detail description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings illustrating preferred embodiments of the invention. On the drawings Figure 1 is a perspective View of a box containing a packet of plaster, showing-a strip partially severed. Fig. 2 is a fragmentary longitudinal sectional View of the box shown in Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is an end elevation of a modified'form of box; and Fig. 4 is a fragmentary longitudiplaster such as is customarily carried by,
trainers, athletes, physicians, etc. A cover 7 ishinged at 8 to one of the side Walls of the boxbody, the walls of the cover being adapted to fit down over the walls of the body when the box is closed. A suitable rib 9 is arranged upon one wall of the body in position to cooperate with an indentation 10 on the cover for: the purpose of locking the cover in closed position, and a larger rib 11 is disposed adjacent the locking projection 9 by means of which the wall of the body may be sprung inwardly sufficiently to release the cover.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 15, 1914. Serial No. 606,230. I
In the modification disclosed in Figs. 1 and 2 the upperedges of the end walls are sharpened by beveling the inner sides of the upper edges of these walls toproduce cut- I ting edges 12 for severing a piece of plaster which has been withdrawn from the box.
In Fig. 1 a length 13of the plaster is shown as projecting from the box and partially severed by one of the cutting edges. It will be obvious that a downward pull upon the projecting length of plaster will draw the same across the cutting edge at the end of the box so as to sever the length close to the end of the roll. i
The box is preferably made in a size convenient to be carried 'in the pocket and is sold with a roll of plaster containedtherein.
In cases of emergency when a length of plaster 'is' required the box may be opened and a piece of the plaster may be peeled from the roll; In withdrawing the required length of plaster from the roll it is usually expedient to remove the roll bodily from the box. When the desired length has been withdrawn the roll is returned to the box .where it may be held. by the thumb of one hand wvliile the projecting length may be grasped in the other hand and severed by uponthe end wall of the box body.
.drawingit across the cutting edge formed In the modification disclosed in Figs. 3
and 4 the end walls of the box are provided at their upper edges with serrations 14 which perform the severing operation as eflectively as the straight cutting edge with probably less danger of injury to the hands of the person using the device. If desired,
one end of thebox may be provided with a straight cutting edge while the other end may be serrated or if preferred only one end of the box need be providedwith severing provisions either in the form of straight or serrated cutting edges.
It is believed that the invention and its purposes will be understood from the foregoing without further description and that I claim: I Y cutting edge being exposed for use when the A metallic box having a straight upstandbox is open. ing side provided with an upper cutting or severing edge, and a removable cover hav- I ERRY BAUER 5 ing a depending marginal flange embracing Witnesses:
