Letters Patent No. 111,878, dated February 14,1871.
I IMPRoVl-:MENT 1N BEDsTEAD-FASTENINGS.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom t may conce/rn:
' Be it' known that I, JOHN SCHEPLER, ot' vLambertville, in the county of Hunterdon audSt-ate of New Jersey, have vinvented certain new and useful Improvements in Bedsteads; and. I do hereby declare lthat the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon which form a part of this specification, in which the drawing annexed is a side view of my bedstead.
The nature of myinvention consists in a device for fastening the siderails of abedstead to the post in the manner and for the purpose set forth.
In the construction of my bedstead the end rails are tenoned into' the post so as to render the posts and rails inseparablef 'lhe side rails A are cut oiI square at their ends, and the ends made smooth so as to lit tightly against the posts when the rails are in a horizontal position.
The rails A have a hole made in their lower side and near each end, the said holes being inclined at a slight angle outward.
B represents a metal plate, which, is screwed firmly to the inner side of each post. y
The Aplate B terminates in a cylindrical neck, G,
ofthe post. This simple processbeing accomplished,
the bed-posts -will be firmly bound together.
Having thus described my invention, What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
