WATCH-BRACETET.
Specification of Letters Patent. -f Patented Jung; 23 1915 41 Applicatfum filed June 6, 1913. Serial No. 772,042.
" :object to provide a simple and attractive holder to hichchains 0r straps may be attached for attachment to the wrist of a wearer and which will. securely retain the watch in place to prevent damage or loss while the watchv is worn.
The inventionv is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, wherein,
Figure 1, sh0ws a, front face view of the improved holder and bracelet with a watch in place thereon. Fig.2, illustrates the same as viewed in side elevation. Fig. 3, shows a rear view of the same with the watch in place in the holder. a Fig. t, illustrates the detached holder as viewed from the rear. Fig. 5, shows a side, or edge view of the dc tached holder, andlFig. 6, illustrates a top plan or edge view a? the holder.
Referring to the drawing the numeral, 7, designates a circular ring band having a circular opening, 8, of substantially the size of the exposed face, 9, of a watch, 10. This ring-band com rises a com aratively narrow ring whic is preferab y concavo-con vex in cross section to conform to the usually rounded circumference of the ordinary open-face watch case. .At diametrically opposite edges the ring-band, 7, has spaced apart rearwardly-extending bars, 11, which latter have bends, 12, therein and which are connected beyond the said-bends by a crossbar, 13. These bars, 11, and, 13, are formed I integrally with the ring-band and by reason of their form a slot, 14,.i's reduced so that a flexible hand, strap or main, 15, may be connected to the cross-bars, 13, and serve to attach the holder to the wrist. A lug, 16, extends rcarwardly from the ring-band, 7, and projects in a plane between the spacedapart bars, 11, The rear end of this lug, 16, curves downwardly so as to form clip and a slot, 17, extends cross-wise of the ring-band and also extends into the cli the befall. At the front si e of the ringband ihe'slot, 17, communicates with the circular front opening at the upper ed e of the watch face, 9. The rear edge oi? the lug between ring-band, 7, also has a plurality of rearwardly-extending clip lugs, 18, for engaging the rounded circumference of the watch case.
To attach the watch same rear side of the holder and the ring, 19,, stem, 20, and post, 21, of the watch a'ref passed through the opening, 8, of the ring band from the rear to the front, as shown in broken lines in Fig. 2, of the drawing. Thepost, 21, is then moved up into the slot,
17, of the ring-band and rcarwardl-y extend- 1s placed at the ing lug, 16. The diametrically opposite side of the watch case is next pushed outwardly so as to seat the front side of the watch case against the inner side of the ring-band and during this movement the clip lugs, 18, will spring about the rimsedge of the watch case and hold the latter in the holder. When the watch is in place the ring-band, 7, will seat against the front side of the watch around the open face, 9, and the stem and post of the watch will have position in front of the upper cross-bar, 13, towhich the wrist-engaging band is connected.
It will be noted that detachment of the wearing, and as inward movement of the case alone can efiect a detachment of the watch it IS obvious that loss will be prevent ..'ed as long as the ring-band is held in place by the flexible band or bracelet.
Hayingthus described my invention what I zlaiin and desire to secure by Letters Pat en 1s:-
1. A bracelet watch holder having a ringband with 3' central opening and with watch-case engaging lugs projecting at one side thereof said band also having a watchpost embraclng arm projecting atthe same side as the said lugs with a slot extending from the central opening'through the band and into the post embracing arm; means on the band adjacent to the slotted arm for engaging a bracelet end and means-diametrically opposite the slotted arm for engaging another bracelet end. I
2. A watch bracelet comprising a ringin a , band with a view opening at thefrolit side ed to said cross-bar and another bracelet-end engaging the ring-band at a point diametrically opposite the slotted lug.
3. A bracelet watchholder having a circular ring with a central View opening for' a watch face said ring having watch-case engaging lugs projecting at one side from its i marginal edge a watch post'- embracing arm also projecting from the marginal edge of .theringand atthe same side as said lugs said arm hating a slot that is closed at the projecting end ofthe arm but which extends across the ring and opens into the central ,opening; a bracelet-engaging bar formed on the ring at said slottedarm and another bracelet-engaging bar formed on the ring diametrically opposite said slotted arm.
In testimony whereofl affix my'signature in presence 0f two witnesses. f 1' v JOHN SMURPHEY, lVitnesses: v w
