In a typewriting machine, the combination of carnage feed mechanism comprising an escapement wheel, a rocker, a dog carried by said rockeradapted to engage said wheel, a movable carrier on which said rocker is mounted, and means for actuating said carrier and dog as a unit to rotate the escapementwheel.
2. In a typewriting machine, the combination of carriage feed mechanism comprising an escapement wheel, a rocker, a dog carried by said rocker adapted to'engage said wheel, a Slide on which said rocker is mounted, and means for actuating the slide and thereby rotating the escapement wheel.

In a tynewriting machine, the combina; tion of carriage feed mechanism comprisin an escapement wheel, a rocker, a dog carri by said rocker adapted to engage sald wheel, a frame, guides mounted thereon, a slide working in said guides, said slide comprising two end blocks engaging the guides, to which end blocks the rocker is pivoted, a yoke spanning the rocker and connecting the end blocks, and means for actuating the slide.

In a typewriting machine, the combination of carriage feed mechanism comprising an escapement wheel, a rocker, a dog carried by said rocker adapted to engage said wheel, a frame, guides on the frame, a slide working in said guides, said rocker being pivotally mounted on said slide, and means to actuate said slide and thereby rotate the escapement wheel.

In a typewriting machine, the combination of carriage feed mechanism comprising an escapement wheel, a rocker, a dog carried by said rocker adapted to engage said wheel, a frame, guides on the frame, a slide working in said guides, said rocker being pivotally mounted on said slide, and a device connected to the slide to positively operate it in both directions.

In a typewriting machine, the combi nation of an escapement wheel, an escapement dog, a rocker on which said dog is mounted, a carrier for said rocker, means to adjust the rocker relatively to the carrier, and a device to shift the carrier and to positiJely hold it against movement in either di rection from any intermediate position to which it may be shifted.

In atypewriting machine, the combination with a rack bar, an escapement wheel to operate said bar, a rocker and an escapement dog carried thereby, of a shiftable carrier in which said rocker is journaled, a lever having a connection with said carrier for positively operating it in opposite direc- ]tions, and a key connected to operate said ever.

In a typewriting machine, the combination of carriage feed mechanism comprising a rack, a cotiperatin'g dog, a rocker on which said. dog is mounted, a frame, guides on said frame,' a slide working in said guides and on which said rocker is pivotally mounted, the pivotal axis of said rocker extending in the direction of movement of the slide, a lever mounted on the frame and 0peratively connected to said slide, and a key to actuate said lever.
15. In a typewriting machine, the combination of carriage feed mechanism comprising a rack, a rocker, a dogcarried by said rocker and eoiiperating with said rack, a
frame, a slide mounted in the frame, said rocker being pivotally mounted in said slide, and a key to operatesaid slide.

In a typewriting machine, the combination of carriage feed mechanism comprising an escapement wheel, a rocker, a dog carried by said rocker adapted to engage said Wheel, a movable carrier for the rocker, ari adjusting pivot mounted on said movable carrier to adjust the rocker relatively to the carrier, and means to shift the rocker and carrier as a unit and thereby rotate the escapement wheel.
