UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
SENICI-II IDAKA, 0F SEATTLE, WASHINGTON.
REMOVABLE CARRIER ATTACHMENT FOR BOXES AND THE LIKE.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SENIoHr IDAKA, a subject of the Emperor of Japan, and a resident of the city of Seattle, in the county of King and State of Vashington, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Removable Carrier Attachments for Boxes and the like, of which the following is a specification.
My invention aims primarily to provide a device of the above type which is simple in construction, capable of being readily applied and removed.
Other objects will be set forth as my description progresses and those features of construction, arrangements and combinations of parts on which I desire protection succinctly defined in my annexed claims.
Referring to the accompanying drawing, wherein like numerals of reference indicate like parts throughout: Figure 1 is a perspective of my invention applied to a box, as in use. Fig. 2 is a fragmentary view of the device removed with the looped end portion open, and Fig. 3 is a perspective of one end portion of the attachment, the end having been passed through the eye part.
Referring to the drawing by numerals of reference, 1 indicates a flexible handle member, conveniently consisting of wire and having its central portion formed with an offset 2 on which the hand grip 3 is arranged in a manner insuring of proper clearance between it and the box, as 4, for the hand. On opposite sides of the off-set portion 2, handle member 1 is bent to provide angular extensions 5, which normally extend downwardly at the sides of the box and are provided with eye parts 6, beneath which latter the members 5 are bent upwardly and formed with relatively angularly disposed terminal portions 7 which in practice are inserted through the adjacent eye parts 6 and then bent upon themselves, (see Fig. 3), to provide loops 8 with which attaching members Specification of Letters Patent.

9 are engaged. Attaching members 9 have unthreaded points 9', adapted to be driven into the box, and are formed with eyes 9", through which latter the lower end portions of extensions 5 can be passed to permit of the ready attachment or removal of the handle member, as will be apparent. I am enabled to employ a light flexible wire, inasmuch as the weight of the load tends to close eye parts 6 and thereby cause the same to grip the terminal portions 7 Having thus described my invention what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Let ters Patent of the United States of America, 1s
1. A removable carrier attachment for boxes and the like comprising a flexible handle member formed with contractible eye parts, the end portions of said member being angular in form and adapted to be inserted each through a respective eye part of the latter to form loops, said eyes being adapted to contract about the inserted end portions when the box is suspended therefrom and attaching members engaged with the loops of said handle member.
2. A removable carrier attachment for boxes and the like comprising a wire handle member having an off-set intermediate portion provided with a hand grip, said member being formed with contractible eye parts on opposite sides of said off-set portion thereof, the end portions of said handle member extending upwardly and normally passing through the acent eye parts and bent upon themselves to form loops, and attaching members carried by the looped end portions of said handle member.
Signed at Seattle, Washington this 9th day of October 1912.
